Monday and Tuesday- Luton, full of assholes, time wasters, no shows- never again. Phone rang AFTER advertised hours  ::)
Today fine Oxford. 2 hour booking and 2 half hours and one no show. minus the room, childcare and diesel, it was just OK.
Could have done a couple more but didn't have the patience to stay any longer.

It seems that to make good money, i need to work longer hours, but i just can't, not with a family. I need to be home in the evenings :(

Louise I am the same as you I have to pick up my son and from the autumn it will only get worse i.e. he will be home 310 pm at least twice a week!

I will do two Saturdays a month to offset (hope this strategy will help lol).

A few clients wish a 330 pm appointment so those will be out.

I have to say most are lunchtime or morning time however so it shouldn't make my situ any worse.

I used to get way more interest and more work though hope it will improve.

This week I have only had timewasters and pointless queries off all 3 sites I am on.  As if men can't read English all of a sudden!

I've found it pretty good this week. Last Saturday I had no advance bookings. I only look for max 1-2 a day 4 or 5 days a week due to my full-time civvie job ( plus I have a nosey neighbour so want to keep traffic low).
Scotland has had a lovely week of weather and I've had my regulars all come calling plus a few new guys. They have all pretty much said the same. Got the horn due to the sun! A few have turned up mid evening  obviously after a few beers but no one really drunk and offensive! Its been good and I've taken all normal sounding bookings. I've even taken a booking from a 24 yr old, tbh I've never had the confidence to go that young before thinking that they will be to picky and I won't measure up but he was ok. Had one who couldn't finish but he said that was normal. He was 29 but i suspect i wasnt for him but he was pleasant enough and told me all his girlfriend issues ( ive got big shoulers and let them all greet)
One of my once a month regulars turned up in shorts, jeezo. Enough said. Varicose veins on show that I hadn't even really thought were that bad before.
Rain is forecast from Tuesday though for days, Not good!
The plus thing is that I bumped into nosey neighbour yesterday and we had a good chat
Keep your friends close and you're enemies closer. ;D
She did question one guy before on his way up the stairs. It freaked me and him out
But she told me when she goes away on holiday for 3 weeks...yee ha
I'm thinking a featured ad, a few days holiday from work and praying for sun.....

Work phone has been so dry today
It's my first day back with this
I've just cried because I've been so terribly anxious and confused and alone

It's not just you, as you can see from the rest of the thread - don't get upset :).

I had a couple of regulars booked in for an hour and two hours apiece which was just as well, since everybody who rang on the day was either already blocked or a monumental dickhead.

It some times happens like that in this business it's not how it used to be. Things will get better tomorrow is a fresh day. :)

I've never known it so quiet - ever. I tour round the country now as I had to give my work flat up as it went from busy to dead in a matter of weeks.

From what I can gather from fellow workers it is the same all over. The thing is that we are all different and offer different services in different locations so there is no rhyme nor reason.

I'm just being patient and keeping my fingers crossed it picks up soon for everyone.

Dropped my rates. A lot.
There are profiles round here ?70ph. I cannot compete with these rates.
Fucking diabolical week last week.
Yesterday was shit as well.
Can't be delaying with paying for rooms and petrol and making half of what I used to.
Going to give up this touring all the time if it don't pick up quickly.
Easily used to make ?400-?500 a day and finish at 5.
Currently half that after expenses. It's not worth it.

For those who are independent and agency or done both, do you find you always got work with the agency so didn't have slow days?

I have worked for 4 agencies over few years time + always were doing a bit Independent. Done different agencies and different locations. For me it was busy always at first - few days only, but then it was slowing down very quick. It was tons of slow days. Basicly still I'm independent work is better, less stress, better clients in general.

Today 1 call only. No bookings.

I believe in astrology and its impact on us in our daily lives and am hoping that once mars is no longer retrograde end of June things will pick up again!

We shall see if I am eating my words by then lol.

I certainly can't think of any other reason and according to Radio 4 there is more disposable income about as the holiday industry and DIY industries are both doing very well.  Surely R4 won't be wrong!

I can imagine people will be saving up for holidays/child care for the 6 weeks holiday etc. Why spunk ?100+ on us for an hour when that's pretty much a festival weekend ticket or flights abroad. This year overall has mostly been awful though  :-\
