I noticed someone had put a thread on here a short while ago about the best things to use so you can work through your period. I have tried most forms of contraceptive's over the years (implant's and sponges been the only one's I've not used), and they've never agreed with me. I'm reluctant to try implants as the chances are I'm more likely to have bad side effects rather than good ones, due to my track record, but was wondering about sponges (I tried the coil, and had serious cramps, heavier periods and infections. I'm aware that the sponge won't have an effect on my period or make my cramps any worse, but am concerned about the infection side of things).
Been still quite new as an indie, work is slow at the moment and I can't afford to be turning work down when I'm on my period, and wondered if anyone had advice on the best kind of sponges to use and how effective they are. Without sounding too crude, I have very very heavy periods and usually last between 5 and 7 days, and apart from the infection side of things such as Thrush or BV, I don't want to have an accident whilst I'm with a client. I have a look on the net to see what the best ones might be, and there were comments about using the contaceptive sponge, but it has nonoxynol-9 in it and I don't want to use that due to the increased risk of HIV if you're a WG. Any one got any idea's on what the best ones are to use and how reliable are they.
Thanks
