Working 9-5
« on: 19 February 2018, 02:31:27 pm »
What a way to make a living...

So I advertise my hours as eg. 9-5 but I constantly get people asking for bookings at 5, saying it?s not clear whether I meant I finished at 5 or whether I took my last booking at 5.

To me that?s just stupid - they could want 30 mins or 2 hours. I finish when I finish. I can?t be the only person this happens to? How can you make it clear? I think it IS clear! You don?t walk into a salon at 5 and say, oh I thought 5 was the last time you started a haircut. Or if your boss asked you to start a project at 5pm you would not be happy! And probably say - I will do it tomorrow as I finish at 5. It isn?t 9-5 but 5 is the time you start your last task of the day!

Sorry it obviously just annoys me! Haha

I have this aswell and I've even gone to the lengths of spelling it out on my profile before that I need to finish at that exact time stated.

In fairness we should work 24 / 7, every day of the year and be available, tarted up at the drop of a hat, didn't you know that?!

There is no way unfortunately. My finish time is clearly stated on my ad but i still get asked close to it and after. It annoyed me alot in the past all these silly questions but i concluded better not to waste energy and feel angry, just ignore or answer with next available time.

To not take offense i think it like if a client asks for lets say 1 hour at 3pm and if i am not able to do it i answer with what i can offer rather than simple no. So i take a chance to convert the enquiry into a booking. I think guys who contact us near our finish time are chancres like that. But late/very late enquiries i simply ignore thinking of them as disrespectful idiots.

It doesn't really bother me as long as they give enough notice. I do say I can sometimes work after my normal hours if they let me know in advance.

If someone asks me on the phone I now say "My last booking must finish by 8pm." That seems to be a bit clearer.

I do wonder if these are the guys who rock up to Tesco on a Sunday at 3.50pm and then act all surprised by the staff telling them to hurry the fuck up.
And me, I am not a mess, I am a wilderness, yes

And anybody who?s worked in retail knows that these customers are the worst! Had someone ask for my finishing time, I said ?can you just check my profile? - where the first thing is my working hours saying ?please check my working hours before contacting me? then he comes back and says he has read my profile can he have the same time he asked for before. Like banging your head against a brick wall sometimes

Boundary pushers who just want to try and get away with  chancing their luck .
9_5 is clear enough it dosnt say 5 .15 _ 6.16  .
Maybe  these are the  types they go calling shops or knocking on the main entrances door   that are closed to see if they could just open for them or serve them  :FF

Just knob heads. Decent clients don't do this, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just stick to your terms.
