Where to begin?
« on: 31 March 2012, 08:15:27 pm »
Evening Ladies,

Ive been looking/researching becoming an escort for a few months now. I am now seriously contemplating dipping my toe into the water, so to speak. But I have questions to ask.

Do I work for an agency or independently?
If independent, how do you "vet" the client to know they are genuine?
It would preferably be incalls (I house share with a friend), but would this limit my potential?
How much do I charge? Im 23yo, old head on my shoulders, so have no problem holding a conversation or being assertive when needed.
Do you get the client to paypal in full or deposit to limit timewasters, or get paid in person?
And the big question of all, where is best to advertise?

I understand that I would have to have a buddy/friend who knew where I was and who I was with.

I would really appreciate any/all advice that can be given from you lovely ladies.

B x

Buxom, some of your questions can only be answered by you, for example your rates and whether to work independently or not. The rest of your enquiries have been answered many, many times over on the board, so you could run a search or (more useful, if more time-consuming) read as much of the board as possible and benefit from the wisdom which abounds.

Best of luck if you do decide to join the Good Ship SexworkTM. ;)

Hi Buxom, welcome!

As IC said, the search form is your friend here. :)

Try searching for "paypal", "where to advertise", "incalls", "outcalls", "agency", "security", "safety" and "sanity" to start with - and then anything else that you can think of, too.

Also, make sure you read the main site thoroughly: http://www.saafe.info/

The "Where to Advertise" article on there, for example, is extremely comprehensive and was contributed by one of our most experienced forum members, so you'll save yourself a lot of time later if you spend a bit of time absorbing as much as you can now. :)

Hey hun, I am new to escorting. and done 7 clients.

My personal opinion would be to go with an Agency to begin with.
Although you pay them a percentage, They advertise you - you dont have to pay for website - ads put in papers etc, they will do your pictures, promote you..and so on! The client will call the agency and then you just call the client to confirm time and place (never give out your mobile number out - when a client asks for my number I say I currently dont have a work phone and if the appointment is more than 1 hours time I say I will call 15/30 minutes before appointment).
sometimes they like to ask questions about your appearance, what you will and wont do etc I try to keep that chat to a minimum as they are paying for your time, any extra is a bonus.

Once you start earning and get lots of regular clients then perhaps think of going independent xx
Sometimes it's not the youngest or the richest clients you want or the ones you have most in common with.

For me the perfect partner is one where I never have to be myself.

Also..some agencies have drivers and houses.

My agency has a driver and houses.
We pay 30.00 for the driver he takes us to appointment, waits and gets us home safe.
If we use the driver we charge the client an extra 10.00, I would pay the driver 10.00 and so would the agency.

If we do an incall at one of the houses we pay the landlord 20.00 for the room for the hour.. the agency will pay 10.00 and I pay 10.00.
It seems expensive..but the landlord is their 90% of the time so if we had a problem with a client we have him there. that ?10.00 is worth it. I also can leave my condoms, dresses, stockings, stilettos, shower gel, body butter, perfume deo etc in a drawer so if I get a call and use the room I only need to bring clean underwear and makeup. this also means I can bring my purse with ID and bank card and leave it with the landlord.
Never take any identification when doing an outcall. and being robbed doesnt happen often but its a good idea to have a cheap work phone for emergencies and to contact the client. hope this helps xxx

SCG, with the best will in the world (and I'm trying desperately hard not to sound patronising, so apologies if I don't entirely succeed) this doesn't sound like your personal opinion, largely because you haven't been working long enough to have developed one - how can you say that working for an agency is 'best' when you've never worked any other way and only been working at all for five minutes?

It sounds far more like this is what the people you are employing have told you which is not the same thing at all (but hardly surprising), and whilst that's fine for you if you're happy it's not something we generally recommend here. Not everybody wants to work in a brothel for starters, and we would never, EVER recommend that you leave personal belongings or God forbid, evidence of your legal name/identity with some random 'landlord' - there is no reason whatsoever for an agency or their associates to know your legal name at all. Please don't forget that these people are criminals, and the industry is not exactly renowned for it's fairness and professional practices, especially when things turn sour. I can't imagine they'd be too overjoyed if you decided to go independent and took their clients with you, for starters.

As ever to the OP, please read the main SAAFE site; there are articles on different ways of working as well as choosing an agency or parlour if this is the way you want to go. If not, working and advertising independently really isn't that hard, and at least you know everything will be done properly if you're doing it yourself.
