What excuse do you give your babysitter when you need him/her on short notice?

I want to find a babysitter in my area that I can call on short notice to come for 3-4 hours a time when I have last minute work, I am trying to think of a good excuse but cant think of anything! Why would I need a babysitter who can come regularly on short notice evening time? I will always look a bit dressed up when leaving so I cant say I am on stand by for any job that doesnt require me to doll up...! What do you tell your babysitters you are off doing when you are going to (outcall) work?

Having always used childcare for the last 20 years !!! I have always had to get childcare at short notice...and never gave reasons.... i pay them so its up to me what i need them for and its not for them to ask questions :)

I have told my childminder that I do hair extensions, she seems to believe me so all is good :)

I am single so it can be a date every now and then but its the short notice I am thinking about, and the volume...I like the hair extension idea but no good for me since it will be evening time, sometimes late and short notice, plus kind of dressed up. I think ideally I will find 2-3 different babysitters so I dont call the same one all the time, then the date excuse will definitely work!

Oh I see.

Sounds like a plan...

I honestly doubt the average person is going to think you have gone on an outcall but if they are dirty minded like me think you have gone to get you some  ::)

The shift work / on call sounds like a good idea too

This is a topic "what job do you do" I tell people I help with banquets and  must look smart as its special occasions my sitter and friends think this is my job. I have also recently opened a beauty salon doing basic treatments so this helps me now.

Do you drive and have your own car?  If so, you can have a bag with makeup and outcall clothes in the car, tell her that you're going to work, then change when she can't see you?
