Tippers.

Hi all

Not a very serious question today just a bit of curiosity really.

Was just wondering how many of you have clients who tip? now i dont wish to come across as greedy or money grabbing but before i started out working as an escort i had a vauge notion that lots of clients would tip if they seemed to like you and have had a good time.

I dont mean loads of money just a little bit extra to show their appreciation.

However after 7 months i can honestly say i could count on one hand the number of tips i have recieved. I work for an agency and its rates arent even high yet i never seem to get tipped, not even by my regular clients who clearly like me or else they wouldnt keep coming back!

Is it the same everywhere? or is it just the men up here in the north east who have their hands firmly gripped to their wallets ;D

Hi Collette,
I got some nice Christmas tips from clients I see regularly, including a whopping giftcard for LaSenza! I was bouncing about like tigger after that! But really, if I get a tip at all it would be 10.00/20.00 and it's pretty rare.  I think my rates are high enough and I don't ever really expect tips.
I take the cash upfront and when the time is up, to expect the guy to get his wallet out and pay more? I don't know, it does not normally happen, not for me anyhow!
I offer cash back as well, if the guy needs to take off early or something. It's not fair really, I think, to take for 2 hours when your an hour in and he gets a work call and has to run. I think the gesture is appreciated as normally when this happens, I only end up giving about 20.00 back as they won't take any more. I always give back if too much is in the wad of cash as well. If he didn't have the correct change then, I will get 10.00 for him and sometimes, I get told to keep it. I try to be honest with the theory of, walk the line of honesty and you will reap the rewards? I don't know, I certainly had nice tips over Christmas so perhaps it does work that handing cash back thing! But there again, I am always running over time as well, I am not a huge clockwatcher, too soft perhaps? Not sure, all I know is, it worked out pretty well for me with Christmas bookings as I had some lovely tips then.
I don't work through an agency though. I am independent. Do you think that has a say in it?
Perhaps somebody with more know about it will come along and answer that.

There's one guy I see occasionally who's got into the habit of tipping ?100 (usually split between two of us, but still!). There was a Norwegian in Copenhagen who got his wallet out again at the end to tip me 200DKK (about ?16), and there's been a few times when neither of us have been able to break a ?20. I don't think I've had any other actual tips (sorry if anyone reading this knows differently!), gifts are more common.

I'm independent and charge enough though. I'm quite happy for them to show their appreciation by coming back. As for your agency rates, they might be relatively inexpensive, but your clients may not see them like that.

Did your idea that you'd be tipped come from the US? It's common there.

I've only had a handful of tips, too, and I thought it would be more common! My most recent tip was 30 quid. It seemed a funny amount, but I guess it's 10% and he was an Indian guy raised in America. Felt odd because I didn't really need any extra on top of extortionate agency fees. But it's "free" money that I don't have to give 30% of to my agent so it does feel sneakily nice that way. Also, I don't think it was a tip of appreciation so much as a tip of "look how rich I am". Which isn't a gesture most men feel the need to make (nor should they).

Tips really shouldn't be expected. It should just be a nice suprise when it happens. I personally feel that we charge enough by the hour and anything else, money, gifts etc., is always a nice bonus.

The largest I've ever received was from my favourite client who gave me ?90 for Christmas. He knew I was going to Florida in February so I think he just wanted to add a little something to my spending money.
I've also received tenners and twenties, which I always appreciate. Sometimes the odd fifty. But that was the pre credit-crunch days.
Any gifts and tips are gratefully received and never expected.

Ive heard of girls getting tipped before the appointment properly started.  That sounds nice but if it happened to me i would be suspicious as to why they were doing it.  Or pressured to make sure I was simply fantastic so they didnt ask for it back  ;D  I got tipped a few weeks ago on an outcall but again i think it was a 'look how rich i am' kind of tip rather than anything else.  It was nice though, and appreciated.  I havent had any gifts yet but most of my clients until now have been passing through on business so not much opportunity for finding good regulars.  Heres hoping though, i love a pressie. x

No way? if you're coming to Florida in Febuary we should meet up for lunch or something. Im going back down to Miami that same month as well. Let me know...

Anyway, tips for me have been common around this holiday time...it ranges anywhere from 10's to 50's. Usually its because I've gone out of my way and they know it. Long distance drives usually involves tips. And I'm not scared to accept them....

I read somewhere and can't remember where that tipping is fairly common place in palours, but rarer in indie or agency work.

I think too that we charge enough as it is and do not expect anything more. Of course receiving a gift is lovely and I would not say no to it or to a tip, but would never expect it or give less attention to my client if I didn't get more than my fee.

I dont care if I was charging 1,000 dollars an hour...a tip is more than welcome. Its not a necessity, but its a plus. It doesnt hurt to be surprised with an extra wad  ;)

Sorry, I should've been clearer. This was last Christmas for my Orlando trip last February. As it was a family trip it would've been a tad awkward anyway, lol.

Yesterday a client gave me 2 bottles of smirnoff ice,2 yorkie bars,a snickers and a mint chocolate areo!

Maybye not quite as good as the paper crinkly stuff but the smirnoff ice was lovely and i havent eaten a yorkie bar in about 17 years,it took me right back.

Ahhh,the simple pleasures eh? ;D
