Sounds weird...I always get a text, but no one has ever asked me to confirm I'm clean anyway.

I used to work in a GUM clinic and have never heard of anyone being refused a cert.

Sex workers sometimes have to pay, but not everywhere, where I worked it was ?10 but it's free where I go now.

If you have a choice of clinics in your area it might be worth asking around. You don't need to tell them you are a sex worker, though I would recommend it, but if you ask for the works test-wise and say you need your results in writing for your partner as he is paranoid and wouldn't trust an anonymous text message (standard results delivery system for most places).

You may be asked for ID when collecting your results, I book my appointments with a fake surname and thay have no problem with this, though it might not be standard.

I've never been asked to show a certificate.
Though lots have asked if 'I'm clean'* after having a session with me.  Somewhat horse/bolted::)
I explain I get tested every two months and even if I had an all clear today
that would simply show that nothing was detected at the time of the test.
It doesn't show new infections just acquired prior to the test {HIV can take up to six months to show}
nor any picked up since then.
I stress safer sex and making both an informed choice on the available facts
and taking personal responsibility for ones own sexual health.
They take a deep breath and I then say
"No I don't have anything nasty, you'll be fine"
They then look relieved and go on their way.

Also same day STI/HIV certs are the standard in porn shoots in the UK and USA.
But they only reduce the likelihood of contracting something.
But these industries still get temporarily shut down each time a performer
shows up as HIV+ in a test...
>>>Latest shut down report<<<

I hope my other comments register with them, later.
It's all about educating the client-base. Well, for me it is.

In summery, you don't need a cert, and they are rarely if ever asked for.
But regular STI testing is essential.
You are thinking and planning these very important aspects of what we do.
Which is great.  Oh, also NHS GUM clinics give out free condoms and lube.
Just how cool is that!

*coz only messy untidy unwashed people get STI's...   :P

End of the day a certificate only ever has any worth to the person the results are for. I've never had a guy ask for a certificate. In fact I think only one has ever asked if I was "clean" so he didn't pass anything to his girlfriend, what really made me want to slap him was before I left he asked if he could have a spare condom because he was also screwing a work colleague, what a charmer  ::) ::) ::)

I thought I'd posted this already, but I am a bit of a Mr Grumpy Pants when it comes to this.

For porn (where producers tend to insist on these to protect them, not you) or in a relationship where you're considering not using condoms but don't trust each other not to lie and didn't go for 'same room' results, they're fine.

But in this context, what do they actually say? 'As of a few days / weeks / months ago, since when I've shagged X men, I didn't have this or that'? How would that change anything? You're still (very probably) not going to shag them without a condom. Plus if you did catch, say, HIV just before the test you'd be shown as HIV-, yet be more infectious than if you had tested HIV+.

Oh, some places charge because in addition to the 'what does it say' issue, it's often seen as work that's not covered by the NHS. See your GP's list of fees for various 'yes, they're alive' certificates / endorsements on 'driving big things' licence applications etc. Clinics will often do results by text because it's cheaper and more reliable than having you come back in.

(And yes, I hate 'clean' for this too.)
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

The private clinic i went to in Brighton just over a year ago charged me i think it was ?90! for the full test with a certificate, results within 30 minutes. Apparantly its where a lot of the pornstars go for the certs. I was booked for a b/g film scene that afternoon, only ever done that once. Now i use my local NHS hospital GUM clinic every 4ish weeks, its free so..
