Booked a hotel for 3 days in Devon and didn’t get the hotel money back dead dead dead. I am being forced back into a normal job if this continues.

GG it will continue to be up and down like it has for last year or 2. I don't see it ever going back to being more consistent for a longer period like it used to be. So yes a back up of something outside of this will be the way forward to have more a stable life.

That's awlful, I am very nervous about paying for accommodation. This week 3 days and I dropped my rate by £20 to see if its a financial issue. I'm hoping the rate drop will help.

I'm in Central London and I've noticed (since covid) people started working from home, my  clients who used to commute to London every day are now commuting here twice a week, so less opportunities to sneak for a couple hours. Clients I used to see 3 times a month I'm now seeing them once every couple of months. The "business travelling crowd" I had as solid regulars are now doing half of their meetings and conferences on teams/zoom and not coming to London anymore. Bloody digital age. All that money companies are saving on hiring venues and booking hotels for their executives. And yes, we're going through an actual recession on top. The economy has suffered a massive change since covid and depending on our business model it will affect more or less. At least the inflation is going down  ???

Would of been my best month if wasn't ill at the start.  Now towards end of month it's gone dead.  Done all the usual and still nothing.

And yes, we're going through an actual recession on top.

When was this announced? I haven't seen much of the budget statement yet, but the radio hasn't mentioned it?

I follow Bloomberg news, the Wall Street journal and Goldman Sachs and they keep talking about the UK going into recession (mental note to myself: stop reading the news). On the other hand it always tends to go silent in thanksgiving (my personal experience).

Yeah, that's what I thought. Speculation about what might possibly happen but hasn't (and from sources not even in the same country) is not fact, and it's spectacularly unhelpful to post as if it is.

The UK is not in recession, 'actual' or otherwise. It's a narrow term with a very specific meaning, the last time it almost happened (but didn't) was about a year ago, and the Bank of England are the people to ask.

I'm ticking over fine here (City of London near Bank) but I find it very all-or-nothing so I'm either doing four-five bookings a day or one (or none). I'm happy enough with that, but I wish I had a crystal ball so I knew which would be which.

I’m not too far away (Farringdon) and experiencing very similar: one day my phone is ringing a lot and I’ll get a bunch of bookings, next day I have to shake my phone to see if it’s broken. There’s really no logic pattern, but traditionally November December I’ve never had to “shake my phone to see if it’s broken”, this is the first time it happens and I’m just concerned about if it’s like this now how is the February-March-April (traditionally quiet for me) going to be? I’m just concerned And trying to figure out the economy twists and turns.

Back in Heathrow 53 girls showing as available. I often wonder how they are all feeling.  Not one job since i checked in and I’ve booked 3 days. It’s pay day what the hell is going on?? A slow day use to be 1-2 jobs for me now it’s gone to zero. Girls I’m so fed up I could cry.

53 showing for that area oh my god. How is anyone going to earn with that much competition. I feel your pain made a big mistake travelled ages to a area that was full of cheapskate timewasters calling and came on a period so could not continue and left out of pocket and took 3 hours to get back home. Why do we bother sometimes.

A couple of friends and I have noticed the phone dead since the weekend, we have had reservations but not as many as before, we suspect it is because of Black Friday, since the streets have been full of people and everyone was taking advantage The sales.

I suspect that by December everything will improve.
