There's a lengthy post somewhere in this even more lengthy thread with a list of some of the things that have been blamed for business being slow, including but not limited to sporting events, political events, bad weather, good weather, school holidays, tube strikes, Christmas, it being after Christmas, inflation, recession, terrorism, it being payday, it not being payday, swine flu, bird flu, ebola and God alone knows what else. Sometimes it's just quiet, and sometimes it's not.

I would have done five today had I not been finishing early this week to get home for the two o'clock game, so my answer is a resounding no. It was last week that was crap, and somebody else will have been busy then :).

Hello everyone  :-*

Just wondering if everyone else was experiencing quiet spells while the football is on. I know it's the championships but work has been really quiet and was wondering if anyone else was experiencing it being a little more quiet than usual.
Thanks

Grrr - I can't work today, and have had to turn down three genuine sounding clients in the past two hours alone. Sometimes I only see three clients in a week!

Came back from holidays and yeah, it's pretty quiet. Not dead, but definitely not busy either.

I don't tour much and this is the second time I came back to my current location after a successful first tour last month. It's very quiet, even the hotel occupancy is down when I was talking to the bell boy. Didn't get off to the most auspicious of start when my flight was delayed for 3 hours, forcing me to reschedule my first booking. Since then, had 3 cancellations all from clients I have seen in the past. I have only seen one client yesterday and today and at this point, have 2 bookings tomorrow and Friday each which means I would only have break even. That is if the current ones don't end up messing me around. When I am at home, I don't really get bothered by slow days as I have plenty of things to do  but being away and the looming possibility of not breaking even is upsetting. I hope you girls are having a much better time!

I assumed the same and made plans to meet a client for free social time at a local attraction before returning to mine for an hour booking (I wanted to visit this attraction anyway and thought it would be nice to go with someone and then turn it into a booking that I otherwise probably wouldn't get). I'm now turning away lots of enquiries for that time frame! Could kick myself and wish I could cancel on the man but he's so excited and taking a train to see me and I've already pushed him back from 3 until 3:30.

Think what with the England game and torrential rain in this part of the UK I will be lucky to achieve any work today!

It's also the Wales game :).

I've worked every day this week and still managed to be home for 1pm to get the footie in, but I'm fidgeting today and the only reason I'm really at my flat at all is because I had to come into town anyway (and my friend buys me breakfast at Wetherspoon's every third Thursday).

I worked out that the latest I can do is a half hour at 12 o'clock, so now I'm basically sitting waiting to see if the phone goes in the next half hour and if it doesn't I'm scarpering to stuff my face and sing Men Of Harlech down the phone with my nana :D
