I tour a few times a month and i am always busy but when i work in my home town like today i didnt get any confirmed work... its so strange x

It sounds like touring different places is the answer during quieter times.

I suppose now in December not to expect much business as clients put their money towards priorities like family presents etc.

Yes, I've noticed nearly every call and booking is from indian/pakistani origin men and very little native british, probably because most of them dont celebrate christmas so its like anytime of the year for them

Over here I've seen less than ten of that ethnic minority in 14 months. I get the impression here in Belfast that they stick to their communities more.

Well the guys around here are booking their Chrimbo pressies in before the festive period kicks in! It's busier now than I've ever experienced with prebooked appointments and FFM bookings! I've already got my usual quota booked in for the next 2 weeks and they're still coming in! Very surprised!

Kim, you will learn through time and with experience that two days, never mind two weeks are ever the same.

I think paying your bills is more important than a night out so I cant say you did the wrong thing.  You have to think of your family and their welfare before you think of your own social life.

I would not bank on loads of business now for quite a number of weeks.  For some, January can be fairly busy, but not for all, but February is usually dire right across the board.  You may get the odd exception to the rule but not many.  So I would suggest saving all that you can over the coming months so that you can fall back on your savings when required, especially as you probably still have a fair amount to pay towards that upcoming wedding.

I, and many other longer established WGs organise one of our holidays during February when we know we wont be losing as much as we normally would in other months.

Beauty is nothing to do with having a pretty face.
It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

Tempting business fate or planning never works for me, I just carry on living not worrying to much about it. When business comes my way good news. Worrying doesn't do our brains any good, things will pick up when you least expect it. I always prioritize things, like was just browsing Ann Summers. But after reading what Lady Lust wrote. Is making me think differently now planning to put my money towards the rent instead. Even though it isn't due until January 2013. I always like to keep ahead with the rent so if business isn't good, I've always got the time to make up the money.

That is a good way to look at it, will have to think like that. I believe it'll help me loads not to spend. Although my spending habits used to be terrible last year. Now I spend less (Budgeting) profiting more. I even started doing my own ironing after a year to save money :)

Going back to basic living seems a way forward especially during quieter times. I was thinking earlier this afternoon about all the priceless things to do. Like have a walk around Botanic Park, is far better than being stuck in doors.

I put 10 pounds of every client into my piggy bank, small change goes into my daughters piggy bank, I save all my money till the end of the week, pay my bills and what is left gets used for groceries, electric, gas, lunch money and cab fares.  What is left after that gets split and one half goes into a savings account the other we use for whatever we want whether it be clothes, toys or a treat.
