Returning to work after chlamydia: risks [was: Stupid question]
« on: 02 September 2015, 11:19:38 pm »
Hi,

So I know this is a stupid question and I have googled it but can't find a solid answer. So today I was diagnosed with chlamydia, I have the clinic tomorrow but they don't know I'm am escort so kind of worried about asking a lot of questions there .  So I understand I can't have sex for a week, while I am taking the antibiotics. when I am back working and seeing my regular clients, could they have caught chlamydia from giving me oral, which would then mean me catching back if I do owo with them or let them give me oral! I'm so worried, can anyone offer me advice x

Max, hope it clears up and you're fine. Don't be afraid to ask the clinic.
They should also have tons of free leaflets explaining all this.

Yes. You can get cured then your clients can return
and give it back to you. Clam ping pong.

If it's a regular they'll keep reinfecting you.
Think this applies to most STI's really.
That's why I keep a list of contacts, dates and who I OWO.

Thanks so much for your reply. So only way for me to basically stay safe is not allow RO or OWO, I'm so naive I wasn't even aware you could catch an std through that. I'm not sure I would get much business if I didn't offer these services .  I feel like just giving up, maybe I should just admit to  the clinic I'm am escort so I can get all the information I need, x

Cool, Max  :)
No need to give up!
Not all clients infected or interested in OWO or RO.
But I assume they're all infected.

I love OWO with hot clients...
As long as I get tested often I feel I've got a a fair
chance of being warned.

Either you or the clinic should contact as many of your clients as possible since your last test, and advise them that they might want to go for a check. Hopefully they will do so before they come back to you.

Presumably you caught the Chlamydia from unprotected sex with a partner? If not then you definitely need to contact your clients.

Probably because there isn't one :)

They don't need to know about the cash aspect, but it would be helpful to be honest that you're sexual with more than one man and you know they're also sexual with more than one person.

My favourite reference to oral and STIs is a few years old now. It mentions a surprisingly low incidence of chlamydia in the throats of one group of gay men (OWO is the almost universal sex act between men, and is more common than anal) but doesn't say anything about cunnilingus. There's a mention of a couple of other STIs in terms of women in lesbian relationships being passed orally, so it's either that the research hasn't been done (quite possible) or that the risk is so small, no-one's noticed it (quite possible - if less than 2% of the men had it via fellatio, the risk from cunnilingus - either way - is going to be very low).

I'm so worried as iv me we caught anything, I'm wondering if I should stop offering owo and RO, can anyone offer me advice

Just to say after the antibiotics week go and get tested to check it's 100% cleared before excepting bookings. It'll take like half an hour to check and saves the whole sti roundabout worry.

(Chlymida can be spread by oral, but not many people seem to know it can be spread by facials. Not common but Chlymida conjunctivitis was one of the most excruciatingly embarrassing experiences of my life and hard to get rid of!)

I'd discretely contact as many clients as is possible, which then gives them a chance to get tested and treated if positive.

As mentioned about what I've heard from someone who had an experience of chlamydia infection is that some clients contracted it, some did not and that there was no rule as to who did or didn't.

I was under the impression that after receiving treatment for chlamydia it still may not show as clear till 6 weeks later??

I cant remeber the exact week it was but I was told not to work until I got the all clear from gum clinic or I'd be risking constantly reinfecting myself and others. I also wound up taking two rounds of antibiotics totaling about 4 weeks for the normal Chlymida, I did have symptoms though which could be why they have me two lots?

(Just to say I'm not chlymidia mary or anything! I've  just had the misfortune of catching it twice in 4 years. Lol)

Yes...you're right you usually have a test 6 weeks after the
first  treatment to make sure you're clear.
As it's not always killed first time round.
If it's still hanging around you get more meds on week 6.

Maxinet, you're not the only one, I've been in this business a looong, long time, and yes I was aware you can catch these things from OWO (RO I wasn't even sure about  :-[), but I thought the chances were so small, and you always think somehow it would "never
happen to you".
But seeing the amount of threads recently about people catching chlamidya and gonnorhea from OWO, RO etc, it obviously is a lot
easier to catch than most of us (well me, anyway!), were aware of..
That's maybe the downside of the whole new internet-escort industry, when I worked the streets and the sauna's I always used condoms
for everything, it's only since I started working from home and advertised my services as an "escort", I started offering services like
OWO, CIM etc., and only because so many other girls were, and I thought I wouldn't get any business if I didn't offer at least OWO.
Mad though isn't it, yes working the streets was dangerous, but in a totally different way, I would never, ever offer anyone OWO or
anything without for that matter..
Just because I'm now classed s an "escort" and not as a streetworker, doesn't mean I'm any safer or better off healthwise!!!!
I don't have to be perfect, but I'm perfect at being me!

No, there are plenty of people getting plenty of work without doing OWO. Some clients want OWO, some want OW, most don't care as long as someone is giving them oral...

As ever, different people  - both workers and clients - have different views on the risks and the benefits.

Oh no Ian, I'm not saying you have to offer OWO etc. to get business,  probably just my insecurities thinking I'd have to offer as much as poss. to get business and keep up with the competition lol, but this has definitely made me think, and possibly limit what I offer..
