Does anyone accept it - for full or part payment. Real experiences please since I've already ready the small print on the site!

We had a thread recently, here: http://www.saafe.info/main/index.php?topic=1298.0

You'll also find a few more experiences if you search the forum.

Apologies, I didn't look! I've read the thread you linked. My concern is more that clients could run chargeback easily. I've had one or two want to pay with their credit cards - don't have pp account themselves but would give me card details as a source of funds for the pappal form. I've used systems like these on nochex to pay for goods/services etc so know it's possible.

I know they can shut the account but mine is via a personal email. I'd like to know how easy it is to retract payment after the event. As far as I can read in their small print is that in case of chargeback via card provider you/I would then be expected to return the funds, even be billed at my home address if I've already withdrawn funds.

I don't have any experience of making chargebacks, but I think it's pretty straightforward. Paypal also has a very buyer-friendly stance so it's possible that they'd let someone retract a payment even if they don't have an account. Credit card payments are risky, that's one of the reasons for the cash only mantra.

Chargebacks - you ring your card provider, tell them you had your card stolen or misused. This can also happen if say someone uses a stolen or cloned credit card.

At the moment I'm being treated as if there is something wrong with me not accepting other payments apart from cash, and I've rubbed myself up the wrong way about it - probably because I like my job and don't want anything going wrong!

The seller protection policy does not cover none physical goods, or anybody not living in the US as i found out recently when i sold  an online package, despite the fact i could prove he had recived it and it was in use by said wanker, last week he was awarded his refund, with no further communication from him  >:(

so i wouldnt touch it for anything other than ebay now

not sure about the chargeback stuff, but my recent experience with paypal went like this

he filled in dispute form saying "email sent" that's all it said

I get an email alerting me to the fact a dispute had been filed and to put my side

I send a detailed reply of everything that had happened from time of sending, down to where package was in use, and detailed whois records to show it was the buyer useing it.

he doesn't reply and after 20 odd days it went to paypal to be reviewed

he was awarded the refund and i got a message telling me i wasn't covered by the seller protection

Basically you can dispute ANY transaction on a credit card. Money comes back into the payers account. With paypal you can pay this way without having an actual account yourself - so payment dispute doesn't come into it. The bank refund from paypal onto the card it came from. Paypal then bill you directly.

It sounds like a lot of hassle for all concerned. Just wondered if anyone had had any sucess with it in our business that's all.

You're definitely not doing anything wrong. There isn't a secret cabal of us all accepting paypal for our rates and not telling anyone else because we're making a squillion pounds. :P Whoever it is who thinks he can pay for escort services via paypal is the one who probably thinks he belongs to a secret cabal or something. Nutter! And proper nutters always try to make the other person feel like they're in the wrong, too. Tsk.

I know people are used to being able to pay for everything with plastic these days, but in this industry it's really just some agencies and the occasional indie who take credit cards. If you have anyone trying to pressure you into accepting a CC payment I'd consider that a warning sign.

I agree with above. If some one pays you from their pay pal account then the chances that they will charge back is surely slim? allot of men wont wont any kind of dispute in-case the wife finds out. or so i would have thought.

But if some one puts any pressure on, then you have to be thinking dodgy card...

Why should the significant other find out? The person I have at the moment is offering to pay INTO my paypal using his CREDIT CARD since he doesn't have an account. This is possible but I've read that if chargeback is made then paypal do not protect you!

Have you tried complaining to their ISP that they're using stolen software?
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

Thank you for the idea.

maybe a little bit out of topic but what happens when a client transfers some travel fee and so from his paypal to my paypal account as a gift? haven't done it yet but am planing to propose these days to one potential...hmmmm
I see no other way that we both keep our private data (of course, I am concerned with mine not his).  how else I could get travel expenses covered in advance???
