New to the industry and in the need of a little advice
« on: 30 August 2008, 12:46:03 am »
Hi

I'm just getting into the industry and had a couple of questions.  I've got an appointment with an agency next week but they told me not to be surprised if they didn't take me on because i'm a size 14/16.  Is there a demand for bigger girls or am I wasting my time?

Also, they told me to dress as I would for a client - any advice?

Cheers

Izzy

Hey! I think some of the other ladies can answer this better but there is deffo demand for any size girl! Just a search on google will show you that!
As for dressing, for a client I wear a nice dress, nothing over the top, but something that shows a bit of leg and a bit of cleavage. Heels are a must have, and stockings! I wear make up but not loads.
Good luck!

What a bloody cheek!
probabaly wont take you on...well it seems that they have already made up thier minds about you before you even walk through the door
its thier loss and larger ladies (personally I wouldnt call a size 14/16 large anyway) are busy whatever they say..belive me as I am one and have managed very well over the last couple of years (www.louisemontgomery.com)
and asking you how you would dress for a client .did they not give you any clues?
I wouldnt bother with them personally although I would give them a peice of my mind over the phone about what they said
I know of a lady who was approached by an agency as clients were asking of fuller figured women so i think they shot themselves in the foot
whoops having a we rant there ..lol
anyway with regards to dressing for a client there are so many variants some ladies prefer business suits with stokings underneath, others wear a nice dress
some agencies will take you on as they realise there is a place for everyone
P.S dont hand over any money if you do decide to go
Good luck X

Thanks for the advice.  I'm quite nervous about the interview now.  I dress pretty sexy usually but i pretty much always wear trousers because they suit my figure better.  Now I've read on their website that they have a no-trouser policy!  Starting ot think this is a bit of a non-starter.  I'd consider setting up as an independent but I haven't really the first clue where to start.

You're wasting your time with the agency, that I can tell you. I so hate it when agencies make you feel like you're third class because you're not a size 10 or 12.
I also had a young Black woman email and tell me that the agency she wanted to sign up to told her that there wasn't a market for Black escorts and she was about to give up. Which is the biggest load of bollocks I've ever heard. The problem with working for an agency is that they have their "quotas" of what/who they should have on their books. If they already have one 14/16 on their books, they're not going to sign anymore up. Same goes for escorts of any ethnicity. They don't want to take on any more because they don't know what to do with them.

I'm Black and a size 22 and I was with an agency when I first started and I got maybe two clients in two months. Imho agencies don't know how to market BBW and ethnic working girls, unless it's something they specialise in. It didn't take me long to realise that I would be better off as an independent. So that's what I did. I knew how to market myself and what my best selling points were, and with the help of another fabulous escort, I got on with it. And in over six years and a half years I haven't looked back.

And as for the no trousers policy, what the hell.....? I wear mainly trousers on my bookings, especially in the winter, and I've never had a customer complain about my state of dress. I also wear fashionable flat shoes because I'm tall and I don't like heels, and when you're travelling around in London and on the Underground you want to be as comfortable as possible and not turn up to the booking in a state. I even wore a pair of jeans once because I was coming from somewhere else first. I let the customer know ahead of time and he was happy with that. He said it wasn't the packaging, it was what was underneath that counted. Smart guy.

If you want to work for an agency, find one that caters to BBWs. There's Curves Unlimited http://www.curvesunlimited.com/ They're actually found on this site  http://www.prettybigescorts.com/ which only features indies over the size of 14. I've been on there more or less since its inception and it's where I get most of my work.

If starting out as an independent might be an option then just follow this quick 10 point guide http://www.saafe.info/10point.htm and when you have some more time, read the rest of Saafe. And if you have any more queries, please feel free to ask on here.

The "we might not take you on" trick is just that.  It is designed to make you all grateful and sycophantic when they do decide to hire you.  I was told that I was too tall by my first agent, but that they would take me anyway.  The few clients I got loved my height.  The owner of said agency was ummmm....involved with several of the girls and was not interested in hiring any girls that he was not personally attracted to.  There may be a similar background to your agency, or you may simply have a garden variety arsehole.  I have a new agency now, and the clients either like my height or don't notice.  Agents should sell you for your services alone.

I have mixed feelings about the "no trouser" rule.  I personally hate trousers; others may disagree. It's entirely up to you to decide how you run your business.   My present agency operates a no trouser rule but I have yet to see this enforced.  More to the point, I've never seen one of their other escorts NOT wearing trousers.  Do think like a client though.  It's a lot of fun to stick your hand up a lady's skirt, or help her unzip a dress from the back, or to unbutton her blouse.  Extra foreplay can often result in longer bookings and more money!
