I think it would be safer and wiser to keep your professional and personal life totally separated. If money is your priority, focus on that and build your business up but try to totally avoid dating customers, more often then not it ends very badly (not in every case but in the vast majority). You sound like a nice person as well as sensitive (meant in the nicest possible way). There are predatory types that will sense your vulnerability and home in then take advantage of it. In this line of work, you must always maintain your guard and keep your defences up at all times.

Thank you all for your comments and advice. I wanted to say "yes but" and thought I should absorb advice properly. What happened was awkward when I tried to "lure men". I also blocked my arranged date because I felt it was going bad. I will chalk this all up to experience and keep professional and personal life separate.

I bought an Alcatel Pixi. I was stupid and went overdrawn again but it's on its way and has a 30 day refund policy if I am desperate. I can manage with my feature phone and pencil and paper if I have to and don't mind this as it makes a change from being stuck on a computer.

Thank you for your compliments. I have my moments but am trying. I have felt inspired by friends who have been nice to me when I was in a desperate situation to follow their example. I'm managing a lot better now. I will heed your warnings and am becoming more sure of myself which is better in lots of ways. Thank you.

You do come across as someone, who is possibly very well educated based on how you put things so well.   Good luck with your new venture.    :)
