Backpage has removed adult section!
« on: 10 January 2017, 10:42:54 pm »
Looks like backpage USA escort ads are no more as of yesterday. Seems to only be USA so far. If you search news for backpage you can see articles about it on bbc etc and if you go on one of the usa backpage escort sections there's a big Censored- support free speech blurb in its place.

I saw this I have friends who work from BP in the US, hell I even used BP when I was there.... It's really unfair and not going to solve anything. These people have not a clue.

I'm in the US.  Some escort friends are taking this hard.  It's just my opinion but I've always used multiple different ways of promoting myself and feel more confident that I'm reaching as large an audience as possible that way.  I have many clients who say they never use backpage so I think we'll all survive.

I just received a text message stating that backpage has censored the adult section of the site. It turns out to be true. I'm little worried about this.  >:(

Hopefully it will only be USA that has to can their escort section. But who knows. when craigslist removed their adult services section it was worldwide, not just USA. Cracker seems to be a kind of backpage mirror for every country except USA. If you post a backpage ad it automatically shows up as an identical ad on cracker and the paid upgrades transfer too. You can login to cracker with your backpage details. I wonder if they've done this because they anticipated backpage being taken down entirely so they can take over their market share when this happens.

I believe the conservative tornado of the Trump administration has a lot to do with this decision :-( For all... I'm really glad I moved to Europe.

They created cracker as a backdoor to backpage when the credit cards couldn`t be used to buy credits on backpage at all few months ago.

Well, at that time backpage was already in hot water and had several on going lawsuits, given the fact craigslist had just been shut down due to political pressure i'm sure cracker (which is a copy of backpage) was created as backup to take credit card payments and if something happened (?).

Cracker was originally a separate website, owned and operated by a company called Fairfax in Australia. Backpage bought them out in 2015, probably as a backup measure due to legal threats over them in the US.

That's right I remember using cracker & backpage cracker was a lot more expensive as well
