Makeup on guys
« on: 01 May 2009, 02:56:03 am »
Ok

So I need to get some make up that will even out my complexion a bit, for those bad weeks when my skin decides to go all blotchy. Obviously as a boy I know nothing about this topic (though I may be ruining my gay cred by admitting that) so any advice or recommendations will be greatly accepted! it is important that it is pretty much invisible to those that don't know I am wearing it, as it is kind of important that I still look like a boy. Is invisible (or nearly) make-up possible...?

I use maybelline dream matt mousse foundation. You can use it just in a few areas that are problematic and you can't tell it's there, and it doesn't go shiny either. I don't thin k it's visible, some clients have even said how naturally clear my skin is....little do they know it's moussed up to hide the fact I had no sleep the night before because of an impending essay deadline!

Revlon colourstay is very good because it doesn't come off.  I've been known to use it everywhere!  It seems to dry up spots pretty well too.

The trick is to make sure the colour matches your skin tone perfectly.  Always do a test patch along your jaw line and check it in daylight.  The one you can't see is the one to buy.

Also make sure you get one that is suitable for your skin type.

The other thing is to apply it with a light hand, I have oily skin and over the years have found that using my (clean) fingers gives the most natural finish. Oh and practice, practice and practice!

I love make-up and shopping for make-up, if you were any where near me I'd happily take you shopping for your perfect shade!

Hey Benny,
Try Bare Essentials makeup (http://www.bareescentuals.com/index.html)
it is Mineral based, and is basically a powder veil you put on your face, but it is very natural looking, covers the blotchy and evens out the complexion. There is a starter kit you can get that includes about 4 powders, 3 brushes and a make up primer. All major dept stores should have this. Plus they will happily do you over, and it also comes with a dvd that also explains how to do it. Plus it is easy to reapply. Swirl, buff, and tap. It will become a mantra. :-[

Also if my memory serves me right, Jean Paul Gaultier, also has a line of make up for men, but it has been told to me by some of my gay friends, that it is even too gay for them.  ???
Good luck Violette

Anything mineral! Works perfectly and doesn't go shiny etc. Looks very natural as it is quite light.
