Lost my game completely?
« on: 04 November 2015, 03:50:24 am »
Hi everyone. I'm brand new, so hopefully I don't break any rules while posting this question!

I'm from Australia and have worked in the industry off and on over the past few years doing a combination of stripping/peep shows/massage/full service (massage and full service both in parlours, which are regulated here). I took a couple of years off to try to start some kind of straight career and to see where my relationship was going. The relationship has since ended and I'm considering going back to study something more vocational for a year or two to help break into better career prospects.

But I tried going back to the full-service parlour I was working in before and it did my head in. The shift times have all changed and don't fit with my schedule at all, the clients are all far too much work, I'm too paranoid about STIs even though I logically know that STIs are not that much of a risk if you're careful (and by law here you have to use condoms for everything, anyway).

I would really like to work again, so that I can support myself through a couple of years of study and/or put some money aside for a house deposit. I'm really lost about what to do now. I would go back to massage but the parlour is too far from my new house. I'm wondering whether trying a different full-service parlour would help, like maybe the vibes of this place just don't fit anymore?
Or is it possible that I'm just not over my ex and this is getting in the way of it? Ugh.
Unfortunately going private is not an option, though it would be great to have more control over my client base.

Any advice or help from anyone who has been in a similar situation would be much appreciated xx

Parlours, like indies, all work in different ways.  I would imagine most want more girls on when guys are more likely to visit and if these are late hours they might not suit you if you have to get up early to go to study.

Going indie means you can suit yourself and what hours you do or can do, then you won't be so restricted. Why is it not an option.  You could do outcalls.

As for your feelings, only you know the answer to that one.
Beauty is nothing to do with having a pretty face.
It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

Can you not become independent and ofer incalls from a hotel room? I quit for 2 years whilst with a boyfriend. Once that relationship ended I went back to work. First few months I really found it difficult, but then i just got used to the job again. Being indie is the best solution to fit around studies etc

Unfortunately the laws where I live make going indie not a great option - you have to put your name on a registry, you're not allowed to offer in-calls (not even from a hotel), you're not allowed to work with anyone else etc. I also feel like in my current state of mind, I wouldn't be in any position to handle any of the logistical and organisational side of being independent. :-[

saturnspirit, did you do anything to help yourself adapt to working again? Or was it just a matter of time?

I'm just frustrated because last time I did full service, it was also after a break. But my first shift back was amazing - great clients, good money - and it didn't take long to adapt. But this time it isn't so easy.

Zooey, you have to remember that with the current  climate being what it is, business is just not what it used to be.

Zooey, I'm not going to claim I've ever worked in or even been to Australia so I've no idea what business is (or was) like there or whether there's much to compare with here in the UK, but would working independently as a sensual/tantric masseuse be an option (in that do the same laws apply?)

Lots of people do this here and it's very popular with punters - you do need to be able to give a proper massage but it sounds as if you already can and you won't have to be so worried about STIs. Do people advertise this outside the parlours there?
