To me, I don't know about anyone else but that sounds a very low charge ?100 ph? I don't know if it's right for your area.. So what you're saying is you get left with ?70 of which you need to pay ?40 leaving you with ?30? That seems much to low.

I wouldnt say ?100 is  a low charge for an indi, it does depend on where you work ..for example I am ?100 per hour and have been for 4 years and have done fine
it may be a little low for an agency though,do you have a website for the agency?

Imo, ?100 for agency work is too little, especially if they take 30% and expect you to pay your own travel fares. Way too little, even for Wales. They should either provide one of their drivers, which you pay a lesser fee to and they also act as security, or your hourly rate should be more.

.....I've just had a nosey around and googled Wales Escorts. There's an fr on Demi from the same agency and she charged ?130 for an hour. It says hour plus, but I'm assuming that just means they went over the alloted time.
There's definitely a discrepancy in what they pay escorts. I notice if you look at their website their "price per hour" is left blank.

Hey all, and in particular, Emily,
I am in Wales, as you might know. I have avoided agencies and gone independent.
I dislike the thought that they will take a cut from me when I am prepared to do all the marketing and garnering of clients myself. Even though I am going slow here, I am going, it is trickling in and things are slowly picking up now I hope.
I also wanted to be able to personally vet any clients I had for my own peace of mind.
However....
Emily, you are quite young and perhaps need the security an agency gives you. (No, I am not knocking the young ones, your all lovely  ;) )
For Emily in particular, you sound as if you worry a lot and need the help an agency can give to you as you start out. Somebody you can call in with before and after and the backup of a driver if you need it.

If you would like me to post you a book Emily, I have one here that might be of some use to you. It's very interesting and tells you the in's and out's of agency work, what to look out for and also what this line of work entails. I found the book a great help when I first considered doing escorting. I ended up going alone and not with an agency, but the book helped me to educate myself and become more aware of the risks, the pitfalls, the good times and the bad without frightening me, preaching to me and generally 'telling' me if you understand what I mean by that. It's a good read and you should take the time to read it I think.

If you want the book then PM me your address and I will post it out to you straight away. No I don't want anything for it. It will give me great peace of mind to know your reading up on this and creating a safer environment in which you can work.

Hi There,

I think that sounds poor . My agency is 150 per hour and goes up accordingly to 800-900 an overnight. They take 20% of the total of each booking. Taxi sounds a rip off.

This rates are fairly standard for Midlands.  Parlours less at 80-100 . I don't know how there commission rates work

By taxi, do you mean an actual licensed taxi, or an escort driver? If it's the latter I agree that ?40 is too much for an hour, even if he waits for you (some don't!). I'm in Brighton and my driver charges ?20 for the first hour for local jobs.

Well obviously if it's ?40 each way it's not going to work. You'll be down ?10.

The ?40 fee is a bit confusing to me, won't it depend on where you're going? Unless you really do live on top of a mountain, I'd expect some jobs to be closer to you and therefor cheaper to get to.

I'm surprised you haven't found an agency with a driver, it seems the agency situation there is a bit dire. Have you looked into parlour work, if you could find a good one in your area it would be more secure and convenient than going to people's houses.

An agency should provide you with security. Thats the main reason I'm with one and I pay the commission, - I know I'm been looked after.

Do they mean ?130 / hour, then leaving you with the ?100, perhaps? Also, as Anika Mae said if it's ?40 one way thats ?80, where the hell are they taking you?!?! You might need to re-email them and double check, find out how much you will come away with. The numbers don't seem to add up.

Or you could go indie, have u considered that? Also, a while ago, you asked if you have to have sex with a client if you're an escort... just want to see if you're ok with the sex side of it?

That doesnt sound too bad agency wise, considering you'd be coming out with ?100. But the taxi business is becasue I'm presuming you're not living in a very populated area, and most work is in a town or city, am I right to think this? It's up to you then because if you're happy coming out with ?50 for a an hour plus travelling time then fair enough, but I know I wouldnt be. Maybe you need to move somewhere busier? If you're in the middle of nowhere it's gonna be a pain. Maybe some of the ladies who don;t live in cities can help you further.

It's been mentioned before Emily, but if transport and security are presenting you with problems, have you considered parlour work? There are at least a couple in Swansea which seem to be quite well thought of; you will only have to travel there and back at the start and end of your shift, you don't have to worry about security checks or finding where you are supposed to be going plus there will be other experienced ladies around to hopefully support you and offer a bit of advice - you will never be completely alone with a client either, which may make you feel a bit less nervous. I'll admit I've never done it, but I know I would have a well run house than an indifferent agency any day of the week.

I would think very carefully again about why you want to do this and consider exactly what this work involves - I'm trying really hard not to sound patronising, but your posts are almost childlike and the thought of you going haring off on your own to meet a potentially unpleasant or unscrupulous stranger in his home frightens me to death. If you are especially prone to getting 'a bit mixed up', this could cost you very dearly indeed if a situation goes bad - and it happens. Plus, if you don't think there is much work near you, why bother?

Have you thought of advertising for a driver in your local paper? I appreciate that you would have to tread a bit carefully but you never know. I think the going rate is about ?20-30 for the first hour (including getting you there and back, taking your security call at the start and end and discreetly waiting nearby whilst you are with your client) and then drops off for subsequent hours - I'm no expert but a client I had once was a part-time escort driver and that is what he said he charged.
