Hi everyone,

Has any client ever offered you a life changing opportunity ? (What I mean by life changing opportunity is quite abstract, I mean it could be anything that changes the course of your life).

Just a little disclamer, I will maybe come across as very naive, as stupid, as a gold digger or as someone very desperate here but I would like to get your opinion anyway. Yes it’s true I like fine things in life and if a guy is willing to offer me this lifestyle, I will take it for sure. (No hate please)

Here is my story with my question, I had a client whom I saw twice (very attractive, late twenties, says he is very rich and has a luxury lifestyle (partner in a big corporate law firm and probably inherited money from his family, or maybe another dodgy business out there that pays well who knows).
After my second booking with him, he asked me out because “he has something to offer me” (it’s not something material, I would rather think about a job opportunity, or the opportunity to participate to private parties with high profile people, or something that could give me some “opportunities” in life), that’s why he asked me out in a nice restaurant this week.
Therefore, I told him that I would be very happy to have a lunch with him and that I was charging x amount per hour for social time. He then replied that he will give this a miss as “he mainly wanted to take me out so he could ask me if I’d be interested in something he was going to offer” and then said “have a good day and all the best for the future” (he will probably not come back to see me)

What do you think ? I feel frustrated now as I feel I’ve potentially missed an opportunity to change my life or even to potentially make a lot of money  :o I think I should have been for lunch with him for free....in the end even if the outcome was not positive I would have just “lost” 2h of my life.

Ps. I’ve asked a couple of close people of mine about this situation and they said that “he is a con, don’t bother, nothing is free is life or ask him payment for your time as a normal booking, I was initially planning to go to see him for free)

I'm generally one of life's happy optimists but in this case everything is suggesting you need to watch the Tinder Swindler on Netflix....

Dandelion, yes I’ve watched it, actually didn’t think about that one but you right, now after thinking about it, sounds like there are similarities aha. But don’t you think that some “rare opportunities” can happen in life ?

Sounds like a conman boasting of being rich but wants a free date so already that does not benefit you.

Oh yes I'd agree these can and do happen, but in this case I'd be hugely sceptical. Most particularly his wishing you all the best for the future etc smacks of someone wanting you to wonder "what if" and trying to appeal to your sense of curiosity to reel you in. A classic sales psychology pitch.

If I'm wrong of course I'll eat my most treasured fedora  ;D

A 'millionaire' client I once had often wanted time off the clock, I humoured him a few times thinking he would appreciate it or stop asking, but he didn't and in fact carried on pushing in other areas including services I didn't offer, discounts etc.

He told me he could advise me on ways to increase my income by being a photographic model, thing is he wasn't paying me for the time and I had other people who would. At the time he was a photographer who also boasted about having a sex arrangement with his cleaner, he kept encouraging me to be a photographic model, but as far as I could see the income was far lower, and would involve sitting around in drafty studios in comfortable positions (I have had enough professional photoshoots to know this and his house which he used for shoots was also on the cool, hard, uncomfortable side).

I had already had at least one free meal out with him (and the free food was not a treat it was actually very complicated and stressful due to a diet I had to follow which he knew about, so I could not relax).

Anyhow my point is in my opinion, I think this is a lead on, to get you hooked. If someone really wanted to improve your life surely they would either pay for your usual time, or come out with the proposal in a quick phone call or email.

Now the guy who offered me a monthly amount as a gift intended to help me fund a hobby, he made the proposal within a paid booking, quick, simple took 5 minutes to agree.

I feel when a client makes it known that he's very rich, he's nothing of the sort.

He sounds like a classic salesman, using some key phrases to lure you into his shananigans.
Good you didn't get suckered.

My rich clients don't announce it, or tease me with it. I find out for myself because I have a hunch that they are important or wealthy folk.

The one I refer to above, actually was I did  (well I think he was all info pointed towards it).

Ended up banned because he wouldn't stop asking and trying for the service I do not offer, even after I tried it with him and decided it was still something I cannot provide.

As a businessman and a man of means, he should understand that (your) time is money. If he doesn’t have the manners or nous to realise this and pay your social fee, particularly as he wants to discuss a supposedly life changing opportunity with you, then he clearly isn’t who he claims to be. In fact, he has shown you exactly who he is - a man who is after your time for nothing - and you have lost out on nothing - this man is only looking to get you (and your time) for free.

Do not waste any further thought or time on this man.

I concur. Money shouts, wealth whispers.

Also Ana, a reminder - you’re responsible for making your own opportunities, do not rely on clients to offer anything because if they do, it will be at a cost to you, not them.

Quite. How much money a man has for himself, and how much he wants to spend on you, are two entirely different questions. If I had a penny for every time somebody dangled a carrot in front of me like this I wouldn't need to be selling my pussy by the hour 😂

Guys like this create an image in your mind of wealth and riches, so that you start hoping you can realise that image by being around them. Their want your attention for their benefit, not yours, and they tell you whatever bullshit they think will best help them get your attention. It's like the American pimps who have luxury clothes and cars, in order to attract naive girls who won't ever get their share.

You haven't lost anything as there wasn't anything to lose in the first place,  the guy was a complete tw or haggling to be your pimp at the least.  Even if there was genuinely an offer it definitely wouldn't have been live changing, at least not in a good way.
