Death threat on text! Real or fake? Advice please!!

Woke up to two text messages this morning from what I believe to be a wife/girlfriend stating the following -

Do you ever think of the lives u ruin? The families you rip apart? Do you you fuckin slut? The first text goes on an on along the same lines then ends with your going to wish you overdozed on some nasty shit! Ur dead 'My working name is mentioned here', He's told me where you live, be very afraid.

The next text is How do I book you? Just turn up or book on aw?? Tramp

Not sure where to go with this and quite frankly is it even real??

Mel, I've moved this because the warnings section is to alert others to specific threats and not for discussions :).

It's almost certainly just somebody either trying to scare you or who's seriously pissed off with their partner (assuming it even is a woman and not just a troll), but whilst I wouldn't worry too much it's definitely acceptable to go to the police with this - it's a direct threat and if they find out who sent it they'll be in trouble. You can report it to Ugly Mugs too.

In the meantime I'd just block the number (don't delete the texts) if your phone will do so. The second text makes me think it's bollocks, to be honest.

I was inclined to think it was a troll myself but guess I just wanted some reassurance from others too.

I agree with amy that it could be anyone sending a text.  It COULD be a partner/wife but it could also be someone in your area with a grudge (another worker ~ yes some are that sick and jealous) or it could be anyone.  I had threatening texts from another worker many years ago and went to the police.

My first port of call would be the police staton too and see if they can deal with it.

I'd be tempted to ring the number to get more of an idea what I'm dealing with? I had a wife calling me last year, I just stayed calm and didn't get angry at her x

Just ignore her for now but if it continues go to the police, she will eventually come to the realisation that her partner sought you out and paid you, you are not responsible for his actions.

My gut feeling is that it's a troll, and male, and I'd absolutely go to NUM/the police with this. Some cretinous little shit, who lives with his mother, with an absolute poisonous fury against women. Yeouch!

That's the unfortunate thing about most women though. They stay with their partner and point all he anger to the woman even although the women has no loyalty for them and doesn't even know them.

In my private life, I would never get with someone I know is attached but as an escort, it comes wth the job......I just try not to think about it.

I remember a few years ago before I was an escort, I met this guy who I was seeing for weeks when one nite I turned up at his flat and his gf answered, I didn't even know he had a gf but rather than her go on the attack with with him, she went on the attack with me. Of course I had to slap her about a bit and make her realise the situation that I didn't even know she existed and that its her bf who's the snake, she calmed down......till I seen her on a nite out where she had her friends with her but of course I had my friends with me too. She stayed with him and everything was fine with them but she had this hatred for me......silly cow but that's what most of them are like.

Regards the text the OP got, I get things like that regularly. I just ignore it and block the number.

Id say male too. There are those who I think could potentially be very dangerous, who have a both a fascination and a hatred of women, women they perceive as highly sexed, and especially the aex worker who is in some regards the most sexually powerful. Id google the number, call it from a witheld number, and use any evidence to help identify him should he try to book from another number so you can identify him. There are a lot of idiots and trolls but a few of th em could potentially be dangerous. We cant be sure which

Thank you for all your thoughts. I've received no more messages 'thank gawd' so my thoughts also that it was some saddo sat in his bedroom at his mothers house trying to get a reaction  ::)

I have however reported the number and messages purely as precaution.

Ignore and don't ever reply - it could be anyone - a punter, a non punter, a woman hater, a wife/girlfriend,  a troll another wg - anyone who is bored and has nothing better else to do.
Hope they go away. If it persists and you feel threatened, your only option is the police.
I have had similar e mails in the past,  and ignore and block immediately.
Hope you are ok and you don't get anymore.
The last resort would be to get another phone number, but then they have won and has inconvenienced you - that is what they want.
Why can't people just be nice - it is not difficult? !!! x

I've had a comparable thing happen to me in civvy life. I would advise two things:

(1) inform the police.

(2) inform the person making the threat that the police have been informed.

I'd received threats for months. As soon as I informed them that I had involved the police, (and I did!), the threats stopped.
