Cash App now closed.
« on: 01 March 2025, 11:17:50 pm »
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere. I did a search but nothing answered my specific question I used to take deposits via cash app, which was discreet and easy to use. The app shut down last year and I been taking bookings without deposits but the number of timewasters is increasing. I don't want to give my personal bank details as I don't want clients knowing my name. I don't want to use PayPal or Amazon gift cards. My questions is if I setup a business ac as sole trader and took deposits via that will my name show up or just business name? Is there any other discreet method? Cash app was brilliant but its gone unfortunately

I dont take deposits for this reason. Yes there are no shows but I would rather risk that then outing myself. For outcalls I do take £20 amazon giftcard.

To open a business account you need to be registered self employed or have a Ltd company. I have a business account and it is so much easier. Plus you can put much larger sums in by cash without the bank asking questions. You can get a sole trader account from HSBC or Barclays. I would avoid online banks as weirdly they seem to be more stringent and nosey. Or get a Throne wishlist and get them to send you the deposit there as you can accept gifts or cash gifts x

Hey Lara yes I'm registering as sole trader. Was a Ltd company before and just the account for deposits. I would never give clients a Ltd company bank account details as a Google search will bring up who owns the company on Companies House. So that's a big No

This is why I don’t use my separate business card machine! Plus I’ve googled plenty of clients business names that have shown on WhatsApp or when they call sometimes a company name will show. And I’ve seen their home addresses online. Quite scary really
