Unsettling news.
« on: 20 May 2015, 05:59:34 pm »
So not sure whether this is true, but had the company of a delightful man who is very much in the know how so yes he did verify his story.

But informed that he knows first hand that Ms Sturgeon and Mr Cameron are planning on criminalising prostitution in the next year.  I said impossible more than likely a few years and he is adament that nope it will be done in the next year if not by Crimbo, apparently they are going to use the immigration  line as in trying to curb it.

Apparently Ms Sturgeon has been collecting her information and data over the past 18 months and now that she is where she is she will be able to push it through.  Cameron will be using the stance that prostitution is costing the country millions.

Whether this is all true or not Ms Laura Lee is going to be double checking the info for me.  On top of that apparently in Scotland over the next few months they are going to be cracking down on hotels and apartments being used for immoral purposes and that surveillance on various hotels are already in place, the Jury Inn in Jamaica street being one.

So ladies lets see what happens.  :-\

The tories made it clear they have no desire to criminalise clients and even if they do a uturn I can't see how it can be done in one year?

It took Salmond 5 months to have the drink drive limit changed and brought into action, trust me if they want too they can.

This is a case where I cannot see a bunch of Tory MPs voting to criminalise themselves.

If this is something the SNP want to insist on, step one would be implementing it in Scotland.

Yes exactly.Nicola Sturgeon has had letters from church organisations urging her to look at it but that was only in February and there doesn't seem to be anything to suggest this is going to happen anytime soon.I dare say Mr Cameron has bigger things to deal with right now than Prostitution.Best to wait for some facts to come out before worrying over what was said to you by someone who may have got it wrong or may even be talking rubbish altogether.

From what I understood that is what she is planning on doing, but Cameron is eager to do the same in England.

They literally just voted against this in November, and even if they do try to implement it, it won't go down quietly. There are many in parliament that are outright against this, and we'd be making our voices heard.

God I detest (most) female MPs, especially the "feminist" ones.

I'd assume it would be more likely to be implemented in Scotland, at least first. Can you imagine the hypocrisy of both houses of parliament voting to ban prostitution??

First off they wont ever make selling sex illegal as those who think we are poor pathetic abused unable to think for ourselves women want to protect us from the nasty men not make it so we can be arrested.
They may try to make purchasing sex illegal but it is unenforceable if they even got it through.  For one the only way to do it would be to bug every Wgs premises to listen to see if payment is discussed and two the police don't have the numbers to waste doing something like that.  There is no way to prove payment for sex has taken place in someones own home so trying to prosecute punters will be nigh on impossible as proof is needed for prosecution

All I can say is lets wait and see, thank god I am retiring in a year and returning to mainstream employment.  If it does go through and it more than likely will in Scotland, England will definately follow suit at some point.

One concern however is what happens if someone who sells sex applies for a job, course or voluntary work. Very often the first concern of the organisation is 'is what you have been involved in legal?'.

Ok so the sale isn't illegal but the purchase is and that doesn't seem to me to be a great position to be in.

Sure many lie about their work, however not everyone wants to, in some cases it's not possible to lie and in others it would be worse to lie then be found out.

This is one concern I have about the impact of criminalising the purchase.

In case anyone is wondering, I have first hand experience of such interviews and know how they can go either way.

Illegal for the punters or the prossies ?

I believe this and I believe he could use the immigration line.

People are constantly moaning EVERYWHERE I GO (annoyingly!) about eastern european escorts or whatever over ignorant stuff so i can believe they'll use the immigration cop out...
