****EARLY STAGE PREPARATION FOR SOUNDING OUT INTEREST ONLY IN BELOW RESEARCH*****

Hello,

My name is Janine Ewen, I am an early days Researcher in the field of Health Improvement.

I recently took part in a trip to Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, to investigate what services/strategies are in place to support the expected demand of sex services in relation to the World Cup 2014.

I am now in the process of drawing up a proposal to do a research project quite similar to the above, with a focus on looking at participatory methods of engagement between sex workers and police, the services that are available to cater for the needs of sex workers, as well as establishing a detailed analysis of anti-trafficking measures, determining whether these will be detrimental/unsafe to sex workers carrying out services over the Glasgow Commonwealth 2014.

The research will help to "add more to the table" on the evidence available around the sex industry and 21st century sporting events. This research comes with the best intentions to deliver future recommendations on how to cater for the needs of sex workers around the sporting period. Those who wish to participate must be reminded that a research information sheet, as well as ethical consent must be agreed/signed for participating.

I am happy to be flexible around the methodology used, especially if you are unable to meet in person. Participation will also be acknowledged in the research project write up (the acknowledgement section).

The Commonwealth Games 2014 provides an invaluable opportunity to create not only a sporting legacy, but one that promotes the health and safety of sex workers. Across the world no one has set a great example of considering sex workers when it comes to these sporting events, and now that they are increasing in frequency, it is imperative that policy makers learn from research into past events and to enact evidence based public health policies to reduce harm.

***This is to create early interest only, to determine whether or not people wish to participate in gathering a few responses for a more representative result***

This also will take into consideration the protection of sex workers and organisations. Those who are interested can remain anonymous throughout the entire process and on the research write up. There is no obligation to disclose any details of who you are in the slightest. The research wants to remain entirely controlled by the needs of the research participants involved, and in no way wishes to be detrimental.

If you are;
An organisation based in Glasgow
Working directly with sex workers
Or a sex worker and would like to be involved in my research, please drop me an email,Janine.ewen@gmail

 Best wishes,

 Janine
