Why would he even advise me something like that?
« on: 16 September 2010, 12:11:20 am »
Recently I was chatting with a friend the other weekend because I was telling him I ran out of money on tour. His suggestion was that I email all the clients I previously met with that had a great time and let them know I am visiting town.

Well I did just that, scouring thru all my emails from June...and guess what? I had 2 clients respond! But dont get your hopes down just yet. The both wanted to book...1 of them never responded after his 1st email, and the 2nd one booked today at 2:30. And guess what? Its 5 oclock and no fucking booking? And Im all out of everything but $17  :(

Thats why I was telling him...I NEVER contact clients back after a booking for any reason. But he suggested I go about and email them (harmless enough, right?). And I didn't get anything out of it. Just goes to prove my theory  >:(

Its why you cant ask for any advice from people who aren't in the industry themselves. Just made me look stupid and desperate.

I kinda disagree with that, actually. When I know I'm going to be touring somewhere, apart from putting up my dates on my website, I will email guys that I've met before just to let them know that I'll be in town if they did want to see me again. And I get a huge take up on that. I kinda figure that they might not check my site regularly or something like that. So, I think it more depends on the people, rather than the principle :) Maybe try more in advance? x

I have to agree with Alexa - when I used to tour I'd keep a list of clients who wanted to be contacted if/when I returned and before I even advertised I'd offer them the time first (makes the clients know you appreciate their custom, less likely to be no shows).
When I take an email appointment I always send a 'Thank you' email afterwards.
Best advice I can give to any escort is have a sense of humour - it sees you through the most surreal of appointments.

Well, I learned on SAAFE that 'following up' with clients is a bad idea. I did have 1 guy who saw me last time book me the 1st day I got into town...but the other 2 made plans and didn't follow up. Yet its my fault cause I didn't do it sooner  ???

I did something similar months ago (I was majorly short of cash and had pennies left in my overdraft). I was lucky though; one of my "long booking" regulars fancied a trip to the seaside and I just got enough to see the bills paid (albeit, a little late) with ?10 left to see me through the week. But that was all it was - luck - and something I swiftly learnt not to depend on.

I don't think it's completely bad advice as such; I agree with the other girls - sometimes some warning goes a long way. But that said, I'm not sure if I'd take that kind of advice from someone who wasn't in the "field" themselves.  :)

I do this too and keep separate sections in my email for regulars in other locations - the plan was to have a proper mailing list but I've never been able to figure out how to do it. Anyone who's asked gets my next visiting dates a week before I advertise them so they have a chance to prebook, and since I find London in particular fills up very quickly it's always been appreciated.

I don't I'd do it unless they'd asked to be told though, or at least expressed an interest - I suppose I'd be concerned about it looking a bit spammy and desperate, but provided it was kept to email I don't suppose anyone would object too much.

Thats the thing...I addressed each client by name. Although I sent the same email to everyone (I sent them individually, so they wouldn't think I sent it to everyone).

Im just clueless to the facts  ???

I think it's a question of planning. From what I've gathered in the past from your posts, and please ignore me if I'm wrong (it does happen :P), you seem to move about a fair bit and not necessarily with a huge amount of notice. Whereas I plan mine at least a month to 6 weeks in advance, and that gives people more time to sort their schedules :)

Yeah you're right...however, I have been planning my trips 2 weeks to a month in advance. In additon, I dont too much believe in advertising in advanced. When I went to Boston last year, I'd advertised for 30 full days in advanced and got just 1 dinner date during the week. But then, I've thrown ads up a week in advance in other places and was booked solid. I was going to hop off to Las Vegas today, but I'd just put the ad up today  :P
