My hands are really bad as like all of you I’m constantly washing them.

Can anybody recommend a really good hand wash that won’t dry you out and a good hand cream.

A client mentioned that my hands feel like sandpaper.
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

Flexitol hand balm is brilliant especially in the winter.

I used to have scary cheese grater paws too! We're washing off the nasties and also our friendly bacteria and natural oils which causes problems! Try a neutral pH soap like Dove (pH7). Or you could use a 100% olive castille soap, (pH8.9) these don't create suds, it's mild but cleans perfectly. Avoid alcohol sprays or wipes, try no-alcohol 'No-Germs spray' (anti-viral anti-bacterial).  I agree Sin...anything with at least 10% urea (synthetic piss). I go hardcore with Flexitol hardcore heel balm 25% urea. Buying a monster tub from Ebay this week. Softens you up like the inside of a hampsters ear.

Slather your hands with the richest cream you can find before bed and sleep in white cotton gloves.

Aveeno is fab! I used to get eczema on my legs I use this and it never came back, they recommend it in skin clinic, they do it in hand cream to.  You can buy it in Boots and Superdrug.

The best heavy duty hand creams I've tried are the hemp one by the body shop or helping hands by lush (which was designed for nurses who are continually washing their hands).

Aveeno gets my vote too or Vaseline. Funnily enough is just slathered my dry hand in it before logging on. Mines cracking it’s so bad

I like Aveeno, too, but if you've become reactive I'd recommend investing in some Dermalex. As said, also think about the soap you use, and wear gloves for cleaning and washing up etc.

This is a personal thing I do but on the body lotion isle their is a range of vaseline products like one is aloe vera cocoa butter and so on but the one in a white bottle with blue writing has no perfume or anything in and is really good as a hand cream, I but the little travel pots and fill them up and bung a few in my handbag, the best thing I've ever used on my hands.

Hemp hand cream from the Body Shop is ace.

Or Atrixo hand cream available in most supermarkets plus Boots/pound shops etc.

Recently I also found that the basic Nivea in a blue pot (which costs c £2 in any pound shop) is ace for knuckles on hands and I now also use it on the soles of my feet.  Cheaper than the Boots Foot Balm I was using for the soles.  Amazing!  I pop the Nivea on my knuckles every evening before sleep and the soles get done once daily after the morning ablutions.

I also find piling steroid cream on for just one night clears mine right up if it’s cracking but Iv used the last of mine. Doctors are always reluctant to let go of it

Personally I would worry that using steroid cream is just too extreme.  It can't be good for the health.

However everybody is different including our skin.
