I hate the personal questions, too. Everyone wants to know how I ended up in this country. I just tell them "I have family over here."
Since it's obvious I have had children I have been asked "Where are your children?"
I don't know if they mean where are they at that minute or do they live in another country.
+1!!! I'm quite an honest, straight-forward person, and I don't think before I speak.
So when they ask me personal questions before I know it I've told them the truth, but they only know half the bloody story,
and probably end up judging me!
I don't ask them personal questions, what gives them the right to ask us?
Even if they don't mean to "pry", everybody knows the difference between "making conversation" and being outright nosey
and infringing on someones privacy!
