Ahhhh there's a tip!! No I didn't know that you could delete your profile, make a new one and be 'New' again!! Thanks for that. Might just do that in the future.
Please note that I didn't mean that deceiving punters is a good idea! Consequences can range from causing them annoyance to them to possibly provoking one into god knows what behaviour towards you. At the very least, you might well get some very angry feedback calling you a fake which will put off even the potential clients who don't care whether you're new or not.
Time for my favourite icky anecdote
: I had a second agency 'madam' (bit like the one in Secret Diary, actually, except totally scatty and disorganised) for a short time (due to her dreadful clientele) a while ago and she encouraged said clients to think I was brand new to the industry. Meant I ended up trapped in an apartment with a round little man who wanted bareback and was willing to wrestle with me to try and get it, while squealing, "It's very small, you'll hardly notice!"
Then when I escape his clutches and set him straight about No Bareback You Creep, he called the madam to complain self-righteously that I was not new.
Also, this industry could do with a lot less deception in general. I think the best route for an indie is to be ridiculously honest in all their advertising - that way, clients are happier and that means your working life is a whole lot easier.
