Period Pain help
« on: 09 December 2012, 05:10:21 pm »
I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies could help me out with something, for the past 6 months or so I have had constant period pain throughout my period, as in bad cramps that only co-codamol can sort out.

I cant take contraceptives as I had a stroke a few years ago, and all STD test have been negative.

Has anyone got any ideas of what it could be? I am making an appointment at my GP tomorrow but I was just wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar/

It could be so many things or nothing at all.

A heavy lining of the womb.  Pelvic inflammatory disease, Fibroids, endometreitis (sp) and lots of other illnesses but it could also just be you and your body and something you have to put up with.
I have had so many problems with it I was supposed to have a hysterectomy but I chickened out.  I had an end something Cant remember but it is where they burn away the lining so it cannot regrow but it did and now I have to take Norethisterone 3xday to make sure I do not have any periods as they got so bad I was having to go into hospital for morphine pumps and iron transfusions as once they started they did not stop and I could go for 28 - 35 weeks without a break

Most doctors will just fob you off but insist on finding out if anything is wrong as if nothing else it will put your mind at rest
Truth is far more important than what one wants to hear. With truth there is no us and them or colour or religion there is just fact

Ask your doctor for dicolfenac.  Take it for 2-3 days before your period starts and during your period

Failing that, do the same with a NSAIDs such as aspirin, ibuprofen etc.  Period pain is usually caused contractions of the inflamed uterine muscles.

I used to suffer from epically bad period cramps (as in, like, labour-levels of pain, accompanied by vomiting, fever, passing out, diarrhoea etc) that if they came on in public usually warranted a trip to A&E and intravenous opiates and/or anti emetics and/or anti-inflammatories. After I changed my diet, I still get some cramps, but not once these horrifyingly painful attacks that used to blight my life!  (I'm on primal/paleo diet, if you're interested.  Although it's possible I grew out of them, I guess)

Thanks for your help, I guess the best thing is to push for a referral from my GP
