If this is plus size...
« on: 24 September 2009, 04:11:41 pm »

Mark Fast used a few 'Plus sized' models for his runway show-  My first thought was, Wow a model who actually looks quite like a woman!!!  Then I read how stylists were quitting because they didn't want to be associated with someone so fat and were actually *disgusted* he dared use a model larger than a famine victim.

More pictures in the Daily Fail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1214799/London-Fashion-Week-stylist-resigns-designers-decision-use-size-14-models-show.html

One of the pictures is below: If she is fat then I think the planet is F**ked.  She's gorgeous. (http://www.markfast.net/images/gallery/spring_summer_2010/Mark_Fast_ss10_015_look-1_three-quarters_zoom.jpg)

Thoughts???

To be fair, the stylist walked out because she didn't think the "plus-sized" model "would be able to walk properly" down the catwalk. Apparently somebody over a size 10 doesn't walk the same as a size 8.

Good for Mark Fast for putting on a few models that are over a size 10, proving that curves looked good in his clothes.

Serious? They didn't think a size 12 can *walk* properly? Jeebus!

If I had that woman's boobs and legs I would be delighted! At least I could walk a bit less like the baby elephant I apparently do now......

Clothes look far better on people with curves IMO. I think the whole size issue within the fashion industry is a total joke. Is it any wonder than eating disorders plague the nation  ???

Mark Fast deserves a medal for having the balls to be different.

The stylist needs to go and boil her head, silly cow.

I'm naturally slim and have to eat like a horse to avoid looking like a bloody anorexic. Looking like a skeleton isn't a good look. I envy women with curves and think there's nothing sexier than someone who's comfortable in their own skin, whether a size 8 or size 28. That's what makes you hot Kate!  :-*
My friend is size 20+ and she gives me the best hugs ever. Better than a 'skinny' hug any day of the week  ;D

Carla, can I assure the panel that your legs look nothing like a baby elephants  :D.

I know all the arguments, but for whatever reason designers really do think that their clothes look better on the scrawny types, I think because it is closest to how they look on coat hangers in shops - even though they look nothing like that on real women. Whether or not they fit on women is of no interest, because once the shops have bought them it doesn't matter.

Good luck to Mark Fast and long may he continue, although I suspect he won't.

And for the record, they are some of the nicest tits I've ever seen 0n a catwalk. Lovely  ;D.

Haha. I think they are the ONLY tits I've ever seen on a catwalk. ;D

In my career as an Escort I have gone from an 8-10, very lean and trained to a size 10 and recently due to a few issues have put on significant weight and am somewhere between 12 and 14.

When I tell new enquiries I've put on weight since my last photos (getting new ones have honestly not been the most important thing in the last 4 months), they've either said based on my reputation they are still happy to see me 0r have then completely ignored me.

I'm one of these annoying women who can carry a 14 and despite being 5'4" still look petite. Don't know how, don't know why but I do. I am wearing size 12 jeans but I do wear a 14 top since I'm an Apple rather than a Pear (most women with tendancies towards sport are!). Anyway, I've had no complaints. Some have said I am obviously softer and less 'harder' but others have said that at last I have hips and breasts! About 25% of my clients have asked me not to lose weight (which when I've got back into things will happen naturally since I am a natural athlete), 25% have not bothered since I'm still attractive and offer a good service, 25% love me to bits whether or not I'm a 14 or an 8 (although they would get worried at that stage since an 8 for me looks like a Racing Whippet), 25% would like me to get back into a size 10.

When I was an 8-10 some clients said I made them feel self conscious. For some reason, although I'm short I do generally appear 1 st light than I really am. At the end of the day for me I'm still offering a quality experience. I've invested a lot in updating my whole wardrobe to my new figure since I believe in wearing clothes that fit well.

A client last week told me I was no-way a 14, and he'd worked in fashion giving his credentials as soon as he met me. I have noticed my 14 dresses and trousers hanging off me so I'm going back to a 12 on my website. How fickle is this industry? That a decent Escort have to worry about the size she states and her photos so much?

Hi All

Since when was a 12 or 14 plus-size?

Personally, I'm 14 on top (to accommodate my boobs  ;) ), 12 on the bottom.

If I wanted to look like Victoria Beckham, i.e. an anorexic racing whippet (how does her head stay attached to her body, it must be like 50% of her total weight) I'd starve myself and work out for hours like she does. But life's a little to short to deny myself the pleasure of eating.

Screw diets - pass us one of those mars bars anyone?  :)

Love

Hehe Lila!!  I'm the same...14 on top (tits) and 12 on the bottom (ass and thighs).

I'm 5'1 and a bit (very important, that bit!).  My weight/height means I possibly qualify as a bbw in some guys books as that 14/12 looks very different on someone of my height.

I think I have realised that honesty is the best policy and stuff those that don't go for my look...some will find me sexy, others will not; just as it stands for the 5'8", blonde, lithe 'godess'.

PS Despite my form...I do know how to walk!!
