I realized later that I should have told him the room was not actually FOR me, but for him... OR maybe, "Yes, a night on my own in a Travelodge would be divine in lieu of cold, hard cash. You really know how to treat a girl."

And, yes, they do jump right in, without reading and without listening. I just have a personal preference to not bring them here. Most of the time it's not a problem, but I do need to get better with the timewasters... I do get a lot of "on the fly" phone calls asking if I can be ready in 20 minutes, etc. I have also decided to not take bookings outside of AW unless they seem unusually nice, etc. And, I've also decided not to respond to cold-text messages. That has never done me any good.

I realize that this will limit my custom (and I can't really afford the limitation) but until I have a better sense of things...one cold-call and zero cold-texts have actually yielded a booking...

It was only after I posted here that I realised August is a 31 day/5& 1/2 week month and, as I am available pretty much 7 days per week, at two bookings ( " at least" remember :D ) per week, I should have quoted him ?950- ?1,000 minimum.

He missed the bargain of a lifetime there, the  barnpot!   ;)
