I remember years ago while living in the US an article came out in a very popular magazine under the title:" Jessy jane (just made the name up):  the escort that charges one thousand dollars per hour!". It was a 2 page story with beautiful and fun photos of this very upscaled escort etc... 3 months later  Jessy Jane was arrested and her pimp agency owner sent to jail for a year. The whole investigation started because of THAT article. The police then made sure that their arrest was properly covered in the media in order to set an example.

I know this is the UK, not the US, but me thinks flaunting certain "stuff" is just not the best idea because you might be used as an example...

It's not that long ago that the girl in London got a ?120,000 tax bill plus tens of thousands costs and a jail sentence. They raided her home as well and found a huge amount of cash.

Keep a low profile. Flashing the cash in front of TV cameras and boasting is not the way to do that.

Ask any of the girls who appeared in programmes like this in the past what good it did them?  Yes, you have your 10minutes of fame etc but what good is this going to do their parents?  Those in their villages who did not know will now know, can you imagine the dad down at the pub and some guy comes up to him and says "so how much does your daughter charge, nice cracking minge on her".   If they are not already social pariahs they will become to an extent now.

The reason why you find it is predominantly fame hungry women who go on these programmes is because the sensible ones know better.  Can you imagine what their landlords will think or any future landlords? After the way they portrayed themselves etc do you honestly think any half decent man would want to take a someone with such issues on?

And then the legal problems they might face in the upcoming months especially with their escort agency now which she tried to brand as a casting agency.  The reason why this was one of the most secretive professions is not just down to morality it is down to the mystique  and secrecy it provided.

I remember growing up as a child and we would drive past a house with a red light on the porch and my mom would whisper to my dad or seeing women on street corners and my friends would go "oh she is prostitute" and I would be all "oooooh really!".

Yes it might bring a lot more visitors to the site or clients but it also brings a lot more problems for girls trying to fly under the radar.  You can sit there and idolise them or think "awww aren't they lovely" etc but at the end of the day it would take a snap of a finger for one of them to turn against the other for whatever silly reason and we all know how easy it happens in this industry.

Change TV to video games and this is indeed pretty spot on, lol.

This thread is bare hilar!  ;D

But, pleased to report that I have already had 2 punters who said it was down to "that documentary"! One of which hadn't seen a hooker for ten years and was inspired to get back into it. The other figured it was a more efficient version of dating sites without the hassle!

Keep 'em coming!

If something is not perceived it doesn't exist.

I don't think a show like this affects just them, it brings attention to the industry and examples could be made out of a lot of people.

Like that guy on benefits street showing he's a dealer, everything there on the table and his identity completely exposed, even down to his exact address

  • I can resist anything except temptation....
I found it very interesting. I watched it with my partner and we concluded that I'm not 'high class' as defined by channel 4 despite my level of education and home ownership!

I share all the concerns expressed here by others about the negative effects of the publicity, tax issues etc but they certainly seem to have a lot of fun and we shouldn't slate them for their appearance or lifestyle choices.

I think the programme shows how most people see or want to see escorting when in reality, yes here I am in my pj's, watching 'this morning' and working out how much gardening I can do before my 2pm!

There have been far more positive and beneficial documentaries but it was entertaining xxx

Some people don't think about their actions before the outcome
