Depending on where you are, every major department store has got a wig section. Also, amazon, but that can be a hit or miss.

you didn't specify what you wanted to use the wig for, if a photoshoot to hide your identity or due to hair problem. Wigs don't look very natural in photoshoots, I tried myself in the past and it made my head look huge and it just didn't look very natural. It might look better when its a short-haired/ bobbed wig.

Else for longer/ denser looking hair in the photos, I can recommend clip-in extensions, they will work out far cheaper if you plan to use them just for one occasion such as photos taken.

Have heard very good things about a company called geisha wigs

I tried a wig when i gave myself a bad hair cut..... i couldn't make it not look like a wig despite best efforts. But then again i didn't get a ?400 wig or anything like that, it was good quality don't get me wrong but it looked a bit alien

I wear wigs everyday with no problems whatsoever  always wear a hair net underneath and have never used clips. I have never had them look heavy or wiggy either, it's just a case of playing around when it arrives and trimming the fringe etc. My clients genuinelly dont know and as i wear them out of wigs too friends dont know either ( i tend to stick to the same length and style..just different colours)

I used to have a stylist trim the fringe and cut some layers into them but i can do this myself now. The wigs i buy are around ?20  so i tend to buy several at once

The best wig shop in the world (I have a wig obsession!) - in my opinion - is Paks.  There are lots of branches across London.  The one nearest me has a wide, wide, wide wall of wigs that is just massive.  Every possible hairstyle and colour, and the price range is amazing - I usually only spend between ?20 & ?30.

I think if you want to do wigs, it may work best if you go ahead and go for obviously fake. That is, something in an outrageous colour or style that can still look awesome but nobody actually expects to be real.

Do any of you wear wigs when working?
I bought a wig a while ago but it was absolutely hideous once on, really synthetic and shiny. A cross dressing client of mine has a fabulous wig but he can't remember where he got it from and has deleted all the details, all he can remember is it was off Ebay and much cheaper than the monstrosity I got!

Can any of you recommend some that look good and stay on well, or how to secure them properly? I'm a bit concerned about the damn thing slipping off mid way through a booking.....can just imagine how awful/hilarious that would be!
