Didn't count cash and shorted by client
« on: 31 October 2024, 01:46:31 pm »
I had a client last night he booked me for 2 hours with the agency the two hours go by quickly and he asks to extend for another hour, time goes by again and its 2:30am in the morning 5 hours in I tell the agency and they tell me what the price is (X) and I tell the client. He's trying to bargain the price but I explain it doesn't work like that.

He tried a transfer to the agency didn't work and so we went to an ATM. He got more money and we went back and he gave me the cash and I headed home I didn't end up counting it.

In the morning I counted it and realised he shorted it 560 pounds what do I do in this situation ?

I'm really new to this. The client gave me his number and I called him but no answer, I don't know if I should tell the agency or if I will get in trouble.

Oh shit something similar happened to me years ago when i was with a agency. I know its shit but you just have to take it on the chin, the agency will obviously want their fee for the hours youve done all you can do is learn for next time. Xx
Not today satan

And always always count the money in front of them before anything happens. If you count it whilst they are in the bathroom and it’s short they can claim youve taken some. He definitely took advantage of you, sorry it’s happened but it’s a learning curve for you from now on x

I learned to get the money first after a few annoying experiences.

Saying that, recently I had a guy and I miscounted! After the booking i realised he had paid me a tenner short  :FF

I had a regular of mine short change me by £40. It was my own fault as I didn't count the cash until after he left and it would have been his word against mine should I have confronted him which would have felt extremely uncomfortable. I work from home and due to a previous issue with a client I try not to 'ruffle any feathers' with guys that visit me but after that episode I DEFINITELY count the money in front of them before any fun starts. Lesson learned on my part..'Trust No-One In This Business'  :FF

Just happened to me tonight.

I'm so stupid. Saw a semi-regular client for outcall.

I got home and counted cash and he's paid me £15 short!!!

I won't see him again

Sorry this happened to you and it's awful when you've done this job and a client rinses you over!

I've had a client pass me white copier in an envelope, I've been shorted many times, I've had a client steal money back - it's all awful!

Just remember going forward, take the payment upfront!  NO MONEY  = NO HONEY!!!!

I had that a few times when the plastic banknotes were first introduced. They used to stick together when they were very new and there was a few occasions where I'd flip through at the start and not notice then find myself peeling two apart when I was getting my banking ready later on. I'm thankful I never accused anybody of shorting me just to find out later they hadn't  :-\

Thanks. Had a guy today that happily paid me a tenner over so he kind of made up for it  :)

Its a business. They are paying for my time and service. So if its a two hour booking with what they want and some extras bolted on ill tell them the price and that it needs to be paid in cash. Which I check and count with them. first and foremost. Not the right amount athen the visit is adjusted. or terminated. If its not the right money Ill say tha tthere is a cancellation fee of 20... often they find that missing money...

Once I have the money ill seperate it from them. Ill ask them to undress show them where to hang the clothes and Ill go out the room and put the money in the safe. I found a way a few years ago to hide money a safe built in to a sofa under the cushion, or a dummy socket. someplace that it cant be seen easy and a camera in that room. dont need to freak them out about the camera its not in a room they should be in so dont need to tell them. But if thy go in I have the evidence.

I wont be short changed.
