Changing Your Beauty Routine To Make Work Less Stressful
« on: 19 December 2024, 07:18:13 pm »
I’ve decided to change a lot about how I present myself to clients and wondered if other ladies have gone down a similar route?

I’ve always stressed over presenting myself in a glamorous way because I felt it was expected, but I’ve been finding it stressful, time - consuming and expensive.

I’ve ditched: false eyelashes, false nails, high heels and I’m lucky if I shave once a week! I’ve also started to wear my hair up, as daily styling was driving me mad and ruining my hair.

I feel so liberated!

I wish I’d realised years ago that I didn’t need to be ultra glam. My make up takes literally 5 mins now as I’ve ditched the foundation.

I can relax so much more now.

I couldn't be arsed with the heels and sets with suspenders etc too much of a faff. Prefer body stockings and bodysuits! Sometimes they ask for leggings/gym wear which is a plus.. Super comfy lol

I used to get really, really glammed up for bookings, but now I go casual and wear minimum makeup. I also write this on my profile too, so no-one expects super-glam.  ::) It hasn't seemed to make a difference.

Shaving once a week ? Nah not down with that .

Men are paying for a service surely being shaved if that’s what you offer is only fair ? To give them a load of stubble is a little bit shitty !

Yea I got rid of the fake nails and eyebrow appointments this year and my natural nails/brows have recovered after all the damage. Now I just keep everything trim and neat. I stopped buying mountains of a cheaper makeup/beauty products (clutter!) and have a more streamlined amount of better stuff.

I like a pretty bra and knickers with a silk kimono,  but don't bother with stockings, suspenders, heels unless they ask and even then I'm reluctant unless it's a 90 min plus booking. I try and shave once weekly but don't always get around to it and my hair is light anyway. I think a lot of guys like the simple, 'lady next door' look anyhow. If I feel like it, I put on red lipstick, black lingerie, pretty drop earrings and maybe in the summer cute slip on sandals, because its a simple way of having more 'glamourous look' thats pretty simple to achieve  :)

I've managed very well for a long time without spending a great amount of time and money on makeup/nail salon visits and costly hair treatments and cuts.

I don't think I could do glamour if I tried.  A bit of eye makeup and lipstick plus wearing my long hair in a style which I know flatters me is just about all I do and it takes 10 minutes. I do however make an effort with outfits/shoes and lingerie and have lots of it.

None of it was expensive either.I like to note what I wore on previous bookings so ensure it's a different colour/style next time. If I like what I see in my mirror then I have 100 percent confidence and will accept dress requests if possible. I always wear 👠👠 high heels too although sometimes they need to come off.  Stockings and suspenders if I feel like it otherwise one of my many suspender bodysuit things which have the stockings built in. What the hell are they called?

Shaving as and when but lucky me - I don't grow underarm hair and almost none on my legs. A bit freaky but in a positive way 😉

Nails, eyebrows and hair I do for me anyway and not for work or men.  I have never worn makeup and I may dab a bit of lippy on before a booking.  Ditched heels a long time ago.  I shave my foo every few days but that's a habit now so will probably do that til the day I die  ;D .  Don't have to shave arms and legs much at all anymore as they don't seem to grow.

Oh, I advertise as naturally hairy (as in intimate and armpits). I had my leg hair lasered so that’s gone. I meant the little bit at the top of the thighs, which isn’t much, so it only needs a quick once over. Getting my leg hair lasered was the best thing I ever did.

Tbh, I never had that much leg hair as it gets finer as you get older (which I am), but I hated the stubble from the razor and didn’t get on with hair removal cream. It really hurt my skin having to shave my legs so often.

I’m honest in my advertising, and I’m busy, so being hairy suits many clients.

I shower. It pretty much ends there :D

I don't remove body hair, or do anything with my head hair bar give it a shake; I don't wear makeup beyond a bit of lip balm and eyebrow gel (although I do have them microbladed) and I keep my nails short and clean.

I wear the same clothes for every booking because it's easier; I have half a dozen near-identical work dresses (with a couple of lightweight nightie things for very hot weather), I don't take clothing requests and shoes are not worn in my flat at all, so I don't have to give any of it any headspace whatsoever. I did used to wear nicer lingerie, but so much of it got stolen or torn with them yanking and pawing at it it's not worth the faff (I still can't fathom out how an adult would think that the way to take a bra off would be to pull the strap sharply forwards and downwards).

I have yet to have a punter turn tail and run away screaming ;D.

Seeing so many of you ditching the makeup.. I don't blame you, hate wearing it all day long! I would think to myself once it's off I shouldn't take bookings but now I don't think that is the case. I have ombre brows and individual lashes anyway (this is for myself)  ;D

I love not wearing foundation now. I just felt that I had to.

I just brush some bronzer over my face and neck (or I’d look like a corpse), gel eyebrow stuff, a flick of mascara and a neutral or light lipstick and I’m ready to hussle.

When I think of the volume of makeup I have worn to do this job, because I felt I had to, I shudder.

I honestly don’t think clients are bothered as long as your advertising is accurate.

I love that you have body hair too. Likewise, clients have never turned tail and ran  ;D

I’ve never worn a bra to work but I can imagine you could write a book on the various ways clients have attempted to remove them over the years!

When I have the energy ill use a gradual tan on my face and body, dye my eyebrows with beard dye. I've lasered off some body hair so showering is quicker. Make up wise I use bb cream, mascara ,blusher and false lashes.

I have sensory issues so foundation and wired bras are a no go now, I struggle massively with transitions so being ready as quickly and easily as possible before a booking is important.

Not just suspender tights although I wear those too sometimes.  I meant the body suit with suspender bit and stockings all in one. I've got a few and they wash and dry in 10 mins... there's nothing to them 🤸
