Potential Manchester Robber or am I being OTT?
« on: 23 December 2011, 10:39:02 pm »
Hi ladies,

I was unsure whether to post this and thought I should post in the Q&A rather then Warnings as I wasn't sure if it would really merit going in that section (in comparison to the other things I had read there. But Mods, please move it if you feel it should go there?). Maybe I am being overly cautious but, I had a strange call this evening that just made me feel a little uneasy.

Approx. 8 pm a guy called me asking for a booking that evening. I said no as he sounded a little odd; ie. stoned, a little arrogant and asking how many bookings I had had any whether I would be seeing him after another booking/ would he be the last client (seemed keen/ too interested about this).

I was vague and declined due to the fact that just sounded generally odd and clearly hadn't read anything on my website (e.g rates/ availability, location). When I said no, he wasn't too keen to accept this asking how many bookings I'd had/ was I expecting someone before him etc etc.

I directed him back to my site (thought It'd be a good way to end the call). He rang a second time. Again asking would I be seeing him after other clients and how many bookings I had had that day. Nothing about the length of booking or time he wanted it for etc., his only interest was how may I'd seen before.

I know I'm repeating myself re: what he said but it's only because he seemed waaay too interested.

I couldn't help but feeling he could potentially be someone who wanted to rob me.

Am I being overly cautious? I don't want to give his name/ partial number/ location if the more experienced ladies feel I'm being neurotic lol. I just wouldn't want to think my suspicions were true and then someone was unfortunate enough to take a booking, the worst scenario happened and I hadn't mentioned it.

Thanks,

D xx

I don't think you're being over-cautious. He sounds very odd and suspicious  :-\

i think if you feel that something is wrong then it probably is ... always go on your instincts   ok you might let a few genuine people pass by but  you probably wont  let the  nutters get you either

I've moved this to Warnings because it certainly sounds like somebody testing the water to me - all the questions about how busy you've been and if somebody would be there before him coupled with trying to book a late appointment indicates to me somebody asking 'how much money have you got?'. I've had these calls myself a few times when I've been touring and never taken a booking from one yet - good catch Daisy! ;)

The only other thing I would say is that the phone number looks to be missing a digit? Please check and edit it if necessary (it might just be me after a long day).

Daisy, I will second/third/fourth whatever the other ladies said.

ALWAYS trust you instincts - like it was said previously - they are usually correct and if not then you will never know but will be safe in the knowledge that you are safe.

Another *alert* to me is when a guys asks, 'are you alone in the apartment/will we be alone in the apartment'  now they may be covering themselves but because of the insinuations I simply hang up the phone.

There is also the guys who like the 'last booking' in order that they can try and 'push your limits' and get extra time - sorry mate but that just aint going to happen.

Some guys get their cheap thrills knowing they are seeing you straight after another while at the same time there are guys who like to be the first ................. we can never second call these guys but you do get these strange questions but like I said previously and others did too ............... trust in your instincts and things usually run smoothly.
Beauty is nothing to do with having a pretty face.
It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

Sorry if this is added postage to a warning, but I too also agree. The other thing is that some guys assume we work non-stop, don't/won't even think we might have had the day off and only be accepting one booking in the evening (even when it's clear from your website).  Also darkness, lack of daytime passersby can also be another attraction for 'late' callers who may or may not have something sinister planned, which is why I prefer to see new clients during the daytime. You were quite right.
