Sex-worker-only forum [attached to his advertising site]
« on: 21 August 2023, 04:18:17 pm »
I want to show off a sex-worker-only forum.

As far as forums go, it has a lot of similarities to saafe.info/main

It's best if I list the (some) differences:
  • international in scope - idea is to tag posts by location if they apply to a certain country or city so that the discussions can be specific to that location
  • automatic translations - this one's tricky because the translations are not 100% correct and they don't sound natural, but it might allow sex workers to access information that they would otherwise not have access to
  • reddit style of commenting - comments are shown closer to the comment they are replying to

Link: https://foreignaffairs.app/en/posts
Contact: contact@foreignaffairs.app

Please, let me know what you think. There isn't any content right now - I've just copied some posts from a Russian sex-worker forum - but, it gives an idea of how it would work with viewing translated content.

PS: There is also a sex directory part, a calendar, and a booking system, but they don't differ much from many of the existing websites. But, if you have some thoughts about those as well, please let me know.

You want both providers and punters to provide ID before they can use your site? Good luck with that. And as for using protection being 'mandatory', a) you don't get to tell us how to work and b) you have no way whatsoever to police this? There is also no way to search or even separate listings by country, let alone city/area.

I can't comment on the forum posts because the translation is so bad the English versions don't make any sense, plus they don't open when clicked on so we can't read past the first couple of sentences. It looks incredibly dull and drab too, although I suppose it's discreet at least.

I'd stick to Russian if I was you. I don't use Reddit, but from the little I know of it there are sex worker sections on there already.

Oh, and the main SAAFE site you've mentioned is not a forum. This is a forum.

Maybe that can be voluntary, but visible to other users. It would be useful for safety, but it might scare off people, you're right.

> And as for using protection being 'mandatory'

I copied this from another place. In general, it's helpful if the customers know what kind of rules to expect. The rule is meant for customers, not providers.

> plus they don't open when clicked

You can click on the "comments" button, but you're right, I'll change it to open when you click on the post itself.

Can you remove the ":'(" that you put at the start of the post?

It isn't in any way useful for 'safety', because you have no idea who the ID you are shown belongs to, only that you been shown some.

Punters know what to expect from me because my services are clearly listed on my ads and also my website, which is linked to on the directories I use. Are you saying that you will not allow us to specify the services we offer/don't offer? Because if not, there's your 'safety' issue.

Why are you presenting us with an unfinished website cobbled together from plagiarised bits of other people's sites? This is your only chance at promoting yourself here and most people would be wanting to make it count?

I have very few preference there. I would go with whatever works best as long as it's safe, legal, and non-exploitative.

It's a work in progress. I don't even know if this would be useful to anyone.

This is how I imagined the forum might be used:

Let's say I'm Spanish speaking and I want to provide my services in Cologne, Germany. I could go to the forum, filter by Cologne and read the top posts describing the most important things and also the things to watch out for. The posts might be largely written in German, so I use the translations. Sure, they are not perfect, but maybe they are useful. That's what I'm trying to find out before I continue with the website.

You could also just copy paste the German parts you wanted into Google Translate.

I think it would be a problem having many different local forums and not knowing which one to trust for which location.

What do you think the likelihood is of somebody who only speaks Spanish (no German and no English) going to Germany to work? I doubt most would be likely to go and work in a place where they would struggle to understand the punters - how would they take bookings and answer enquiries properly? Understanding some waffle on a website would be the least of the potential problems.

I think you're also overestimating the importance of 'local forums', but you crack on. So you're intending to cover every city/region in the world? How many 'local forums' will that be in total?

I don't know how useful this is. That's what I'm trying to find out. In this case, if you replace Spanish with English, it becomes much more common, I think.

When it comes to how many cities can be covered, there's no limit. It's not more effort to have 1000 than to have 10, at least when it comes to the technical side of things.

[Message to mods]

I'm not sure how to send a PM to moderators and I'm also not sure what the correct email address is based on this https://saafe.info/pages/contact.html

Anyway, I want to get your permission to share the stuff from https://saafe.info on my forum.
The articles are of very good quality and I'm sure they are of use to a lot of people and I would like to share them with even more people.

This is how it would look like: https://foreignaffairs.app/en/posts?language=en
I will delete the post should you not give me permission to share it, of course.

The email address is the one on the main SAAFE site. There is only one.

Do not use anything from the SAAFE site or forum on your website. We do not give permission for you to plagiarise our content and will take action if you do.

There seems to be some of our copyrighted content on your site, OP. When will you be removing it?

You've spent more than six of the forty four or so hours since you registered hanging around this forum, so it's not as if you're busy.

EDIT: You also been online here since I posted the above yet failed to answer me, and our content is still on your site along with copied material from other organisations. Why is this?
