Hello, everyone!

A client told me about this forum and thought about giving it a try. :)

Right, so who am I?
My name is [removed] and I'm a full-stack engineer with almost 4 years of experience in the field, currently living in the UK.

If you're interested in setting up your own website, platform, or just have questions, please let me know!

What can I do?

1.Web design
This is platform/language agnostic since all the work is done in HTML and/or CSS, so I can work with anything.

2.WordPress/PHP development:
Do I like them? Not really, but I'll use what the client wants..

I can create custom plugins, themes, or API integrations/development.

My WordPress website is slow, can you do anything about that?
Maybe. I can run diagnostics and profilers on it to try to track down the bottlenecks, but can't promise anything(since I'm not an idiot).

3. MERN - MongoDb, Express, React/Next and Node - my main stack

- high performance/real time web applications
- ecommerce websites/platforms and integrations with different payment processors like Stripe or Paypal.
- content management systems
- low latency, high availability live streaming solutions

Any Node project can be easily moved to a Docker container and distributed on any global cloud infrastructure(like GCP, AWS), if you need to.

You can read more about them here:
[multiple links removed as per rules]

What about the payments?
30% down payment - no exceptions.
The rest of the payments are done one by one.
After you approve the design/functionality of a page, I'll send you the bill for it. When you pay the bill I'll start working on the next one and so on.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
I put time and effort into each design, security, project infrastructure, CI/CD(continuous integration/development) pipelines + setting up staging and production environments for each project.

I'm not expensive but, please, don't contact me if you're looking for cheap work.

Some links?
Sure!

Let me know what you think about my post,
Cheers! :)

Let me know what you think about my post,

Most people will not know what your post is about. And you do not know that PayPal is not allowed to be used by prostitutes to take payment?

It says right in the title - web development.

I don't work exclusively with escorts, I just mentioned PayPal and Stripe because they're the most known processors/payment providers.

Some escorts use businesses as a front for their work, so you can use PayPal as well(if you really want to).

Too much jargon.

Thanks for the reply, Mirror, I appreciate your input!

I've provided links for each technology, so that whoever was interested could read about them, but the administrators removed the links for some reason.

Short version:
Node.js - used to create highly scalable network applications(servers) - think about it like the backend of WordPress, just faster.

MongoDB - database(I won't get into details, since this one requires jargon whether I want to use it or not).

React - JavaScript library created(and used) by Facebook for building user interfaces. Websites created with React will act more like a mobile application, rather than a normal website, in the sense that your website will only load once and each page transition(changing the page) is instant.

If you'd like me to go more in depth or have any questions, please let me know - I'd be happy to answer them!

No, we cannot use PayPal and we would never advise members hete to this as their accounts can be frozen and the money taken back. The links you posted were removed because only one link per advertising thread is allowed so you didn't read the rules which is not the fault of everyone here.

Your communication skills are very poor. Do you not understand how to 'read the room'? You are not pitching your service to web developers, the people here are sex workers and not interested in the jargon as Mirror has posted already.

Your website is even duller than your OP, the latter of which completely misjudges not only how to communicate with those who use this site but what our needs actually are.

I’ll spend my £600+ elsewhere. Heck, I could build several of my own non-wordpress website for that!

I did not say they should or should not try to use PayPal in such manner - I said they can, if they really wanted to. I'm not here to create problems, but to solve them.

I've actually read the rules and what I understood from there is to not use more than one link to advertise YOURSELF. The links I posted were meant to offer documentation for understanding the technologies mentioned above(if anyone wanted to read them) - they weren't advertising me(or my service) in any way, shape or form.

The only "jargon" I used were the names of the technologies. What's bad about that? If they've ever touched a website before, they know what a theme is. Everyone knows what an e-commerce site/mobile application is.

I understand that I'm the new guy here and I really appreciate you taking the time to give me advice about what to change in the post to make it more "reader friendly", but why do you underestimate these people's knowledge to such a degree?

If anyone has questions, please ask - I will happily answer them!

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback!
Could you please get into more details about what the website is lacking or would like to see in there? I would really appreciate the criticism.

Your needs? Hm. Let me see..

First group:
Some only want a website to advertise their services - 3 pages(Landing, Contact and Services), basic stuff. From this group of people, some are happy with using themes and templates and some are looking for custom designs - this is what I do.

Second group:
Looking for the three pages above + blogging. Same thing: some want to use WordPress and a basic theme, others want custom themes or even custom platforms - this is where I come in.

Third group:
Ecommerce: Again, WordPress, custom builds, etc.. - same thing.

Fourth group:
Private pages for each member, ecommerce, live chat, webcam, movies on demand, high traffic, low latency: Advanced stuff, - good pay, but hard(or impossible) to maintain on your own.

How are you going to use WordPress for this?

Wouldn't you rather hire someone with the knowledge to set up an entire platform(maybe distributed in the cloud or on different virtual servers in different parts of the world), capable of handling any amount of traffic and traffic spikes at a reasonable response time?

On a final note: Have you even seen the speeds of a regular WordPress site? Most of them are painfully slow.

Again, thanks for the input, I appreciate it! :)

Most of the people here (including me) just want a basic site to add to directories and so on; we have zero interest in expensive bells and whistles or all-singing-all-dancing stuff. Punters need to know where we are, what we look like, what's on offer/how much it costs and how to get in touch with us and that's it, plus maybe a blog.

I can see what you're getting at, but I suspect a more suitable market for you would be the agency pimps, not us. And no, we're not interested in the jargon - that's what anybody who uses your service is paying you to worry about while you make the sites look pretty and we get on with doing our jobs.

I concur with Amy’s post, but since you asked…

To be frank, your website has no visual flair. If I was looking for a web designer, I would want their site to grab my attention rather than send me to sleep. The layout looks bog standard and like a pre-designed template. The colour scheme is terrible and there’s just a slightly old school look to it that does not make me believe you have any artistic integrity of sense of aesthetics.

I do not use Wordpress, so anything to do with them is of zero interest to me - I use Squarespace and added in my own code as needed to customise it for my purposes. My site has a private members space with pages within that can only be accessed by certain clients; not everyone has access to the same things. Even though it took me a while to figure all this out, I did not see the point of paying someone else to do something I could do myself - a website is a living breathing thing, and develops over time. Had I have been hands off and paid someone like you to do this for me, I am sure my website would not be as attuned to my needs.

Lastly, having worked with web developers in my regular day job, I found many were slow to understand what I actually wanted from them - I spent a huge amount of time having to explain, often with visual mock-ups of what I wanted from them. Plus, many were charging huge monies for mediocre work. This takes me back to my original comments about your website, it just does not install confidence, well, in me at least, and if I was looking to commission some work in either part of my life, you would not make the short or even the long list.

I looked at your site, just not interesting. I speak as someone involved in website services prior to sex work, and as someone who has engaged web designers and other services in the past. I own my own domains, have arranged hosting for both sex work and non-sex work businesses.

I want to see examples, basically the finished product you provide. I'm not interested in the jargon.

To be honest, I built my website in a few hours and only made a few changes yesterday, trying to avoid this kind of feedback :). I just wanted a place to display the projects and a few words about me, because I had no time to do anything else.

It's funny cause, when I think about it, I'm like one of those construction workers building houses and hotels, but never fix their own roof. :) However, with all these said, I have actually started a new one last week, with better style and a more comprehensive list of projects, examples, tutorials, etc. I'm working on it whenever I have some free time and I'd love to hear your opinion when it's done.

Regarding your previous work experience and some people's "slowness", it might be because of either party, so I can really say anything about it. However, I understand how you feel about the prices for crap work - I had to turn down a couple of vampire agencies(before I started freelancing) because they were charging 10-20k(gbp) for websites that looked like crap and were slow as hell(running on some 10 year old scripts), but acting like they're some god damn innovators in the industry.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a "£100-full-website" type of guy, but I don't charge people more than what the work is worth either.
The problem with people these days is that the older developers still think they're in the 2000 and the younger clients think you just click two buttons and bang, that's a custom platform.

The prices presented on my website are for custom work - built from scratch. If a client would ask for a £20 template and the setup of the site, then I'd just charge for the time it took to set it up, of course.

OP, the people here charge handsome amounts of money to listen to men drone on about themselves unprompted and unasked, yet you continue to do so unabated despite nobody being the slightest bit interested in your life story. Surely nobody lacks self awareness to this degree?

You have not demonstrated any knowledge of or interest in what we might want or how we and our industry work, you've turned up with an unfinished website that gives no idea of how a site you build for us might look, and you've tried to drag the thread off topic by waffling on about code and posting links to completely irrelevant information. If people want to discuss or learn about website building they can do that on an appropriate forum, which this is not.

Every single word of your last post is a waste of time apart from

If you want to badmouth and whinge about your job/colleagues/competition, do it somewhere else - why on earth would you think that doing so here would be an effective way to advertise and make your service look appealing? And whilst English is clearly not your first language, writing every post like a line from some shit American TV show doesn't exactly bestow confidence either.

Any further posts will be edited down to the salient points. Our time is money.

And it shows. This omission hardly inspires confidence that you won’t do likewise/build something as slapdash for any clients.

OP, with every post you make, you’re just digging a deeper hole for yourself. Go solicit elsewhere; none of us here are interested.
