Well I've managed to place a few ads recently while the banner to verify has been up but it hasn't stopped me advertising. Last night I posted another.

Overnight I got this text, from the VS number that sends me the promos and discounts.

'Your Vivastreet account has been frozen because we are unable to verify your information. Go to: www account vivastreet co uk to avoid suspension.' (Don't go to this link it shows as dangerous)

Now if it was a random number I'd think it was spam. However, my ad from yesterday is still live and being viewed and when I log out and in again there is no problem, nor have they sent me any emails regarding this. When I go to the 'post an ad' page it also comes up with the normal page although I haven't tried to put up an ad.

Vivastreet is this genuine please?

EDIT - the link they provide flags up as dangerous so I guess - NOT genuine. But it did come from their same advertising number? Weird.

The more and more I am reading on this whole situatuon it seems less about “verification” and more about harvesting information/data on people.

I've closed my Yoti the App automatically installed on my new phone when I transferred my set up a few days ago, so went into that and clicked on the close account (or whatever). The process seemed very simple, did require a selfie but don't see what that proves because one end of say selfie later the app declared my Yoti removed.

It's a scam.  It has been "doing the rounds", so to speak, periodically for a number of weeks now.  I got the same (again) overnight too.

Ah ok thank you! I had only not blocked the number as the do send offers and perhaps, just perhaps, one day I'll use one. Now added to block list. Fuckers.

You may have since received an email from Vivastreet confirming that it is a scam.  (I have received this email).

Yes just checked I have had the email. At least they are on the ball. I'm no expert but how can it come from the same phone number as the genuine VS texts?

Puzzled.  ???

The Paysafecard rate at extra 12.5% seems unfair. Other sites like AW do not have this crazy hike for using paysafecard.

It's a technique known as "spoofing" - the spam can come from any email address or phone numbers as far as your laptop or phone is concerned, and unless you have some fairly advanced knowledge and tools, you'll be none the wiser.

Wankers. I knew about emails, I have emails from 'me' and fake sites all the time but not seen this before. Don't trust anyone! With my emails if I doubt them I hover over the sender for a moment and it shows the actual address it's come from rather than the 'paypal' it claims. Bastards.

What is to be gained by hacking a VS account. Other than perhaps a few days of an advert? There are no credits to steal or anything.

When do you pay that extra? Do you mean when paying for adverts?

Vivastreet can you explain to me the price hike to highlight an ad? It has gone from either £5/6.99 to £24.99?
Your site has to be the worse for ripping us escorts off.  Shameless extortion.

Vivastreet hacked and currently safe to use?

When typing a web address I always check next to domain name in he web bar, there should be a green padlock and word 'Secure'. Ie as this site and any credible site. However, currently that is not there and is a 'Not Secure' message - ie states that any data typed in the site is not secure and things like credit card details can be stolen!!????  :o :o

What is going on?
