Can I write/say this:

Because of their expensive prices and regular change of ( contradicting)  policies and increase in advertising fees which only affects us in the adult industry (escorts), my overall personal opinion is that the site acts like a pimp

It's your opinion and you're completely entitled to it, but it has no basis in fact whatsoever. Pimping is controlling prostitution for gain and since advertising sites are not controlling your activities, the pimping laws don't apply - selling advertising space is not the same thing.

If you want to see some pimps, look no further than the agency threads on this very board. Or you could look at their ads on Vivastreet although there may be mone left now, since VS have decided not to allow ads from those whose activities are unlawful. Isn't that right, Vivastreet? ::)

Viva, I'm very confused. You asked us to report any ads that we felt were inappropriate and I drew your attention to the 1100 agency ads on your website. Imagine my horror when I looked on your site this morning and found there are now 1167! How on earth are these pimps circumventing your new moderation strategy?

I haven't taken any steps to argue or discuss with the site's admin. I just do what I need to do and leave it alone..... I don't have the energy!

The fact they take advantage and charge more for adverts if your a sex worker is wrong its taking advantage. I remember years ago when you advertised in papers the massage ads were 3 times the price if you were a hairdresser or plumber but wanted a signed statement that your not offering sexual services but when confronted on why do i need to pay 3 times more for an advert they had no answer its disgusting.

Yes, I remember that too. It was bollocks then and it's bollocks now :).

We've always questioned why everybody else who advertises on VS gets free ads while sex workers have to pay (and not just a token, but an extortionate amount) and the party line has always been because the ads require extra moderation which takes a lot more time than those of a hairdressers or a nail bar (the latter of which, ironically, is provably more likely to have trafficked people working in it than the premises of people placing genuine indie ads in the prossie bit of VS).

Now we're told that it's being done by automated Robo-Mods instead of actual people and therefore the costs in terms of staff hours will be minimal, does this mean that the ads will go back to being free? And did a Gloucestershire Old Spot just fly past my window?

And of course VS put the ads in the 'Free personals' section, which is not true and gives the impression the ads are not paid for.

Seriously? I didn't know that.

I don't use Vivastreet, am unlikely ever to do so and because of that I tend to stay off this thread bar the requisite keeping an eye on things. Every time I do look I'm surprised by something else.

...and clients think that escorts on VS are pimped or bait and switch in many cases anyway (or have zero clue how seeing an escort works)...

Yep that's one of the reasons you get freebie hunters when you advertise on VS because the escort ads are in with the free personals..ridiculous isn't it?

When a person goes to search on VS for whatever thing they are looking for, there's a drop down menu. One of the headings is 'Free personals', in that section are a whole host of things such as;

Swingers
Friendships
Dating
Gay Escorts
Adult Entertainment.....
Escorts and massages

There's more on the list, I couldn't copy and paste so only put a few in.

I'm 90 odd percent certain this issue has been mention quite a long time ago on this thread, but has become buried in the excitement. ::)

When a person goes to search on VS for whatever thing they are looking for, there's a drop down menu. This contains a list of headings such as Buy & Sell, Holidays, Farming, under which there's a list of subheadings. One of the headings is 'Free personals', under which are the following subheadings;

Swingers
Friendships

Escorts and massages

I wonder if swingers and friendship ads get charged?
