Massage Republic
« on: 12 March 2012, 02:14:15 pm »
Hi there. We've launched Massage Republic (http://massagerepublic.com/) - a website where you can advertise your services.

Over 800 escorts listed in the last 4 weeks during our beta test and most of them have already received their first customer enquiries.

A basic listing is free. If you are looking for a new and effective way of marketing your services, please take a look!
We would absolutely love to hear your feedback, here or on our forums.

We also donate 10% of our revenues to fighting human trafficking and spreading awareness, more info here: [removed]

Thanks, Claire

Sorry but I just took a look at your website and it's got nothing to do with "massage". It's just another escort website. Why "massage republic"? It's kind of misleading.

About the name - sorry if you think it's misleading, but it was the best we could come up with and we don't think that there can be much confusion for the visitor when they get on the site. When you think about it, Amazon doesn't have much to do with rivers and Twitter isn't a bird-watching site :)

We have quite a few cities available there. Maybe you were just looking at the front page where we only display places where this is already a listing. If we're missing your city, please ask and we will ad it

MP, if you want to reply directly to somebody there is a 'Quote' button on the top right of their post. This is not Twitter.

If that's the best you can come up with it's a pretty poor argument - 'Amazon' is a proper noun and the name of a river which clearly is not going to be for sale. When the site first started as an online bookstore, they didn't call it 'Magazine Republic', because they didn't sell magazines and it would have been misleading to those who wanted to buy one, even though they might well have been interested in the books too.

Massage is a specific service that some people might be looking for, and those people might not necessarily be looking to book a prostitute. Equally, plenty of prostitutes (including me) don't offer massage. So I'll be skipping it too.

Hi Amy,

Sorry if my reply sounded snarky or rude! We are working hard to make the site generate great results for the people who list on it. Most importantly, we are seeing people get a great number of enquiries (which is a great deal when listing is free).

We haven't had a negative comment on the name before so I guess I didn't know how to respond. You do have a point, but we would hate that to be the reason you didn't take five minutes to give it a go! We're working hard to make this a great site for working girls.

Thanks, Claire

Changed them to quotes, thanks! Just curious, what's MP?

Sorry, that should have been 'MR' - I was trying to do six things at once including cooking dinner, packing an overnight bag and posting from my BlackBerry, I'm exhausted and I obviously got caught somewhere between that and 'OP' (original poster).

I don't think the name of the site is that important either, but as I don't offer massage I will not be advertising on a site called 'massage republic' as I can't see anything coming from it except more bloody aggravation from confused punters. Lots of people do offer massage and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to put a listing up.

Actually you have Leicester and Northampton, What about all the others like Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire??? Rutland, You know the biggest ones???  So not quite a few but just 2 which are both in the South of the East Midlands.  Although no point in me arguing this as you obviously know better and of course we are all dying to advertise in areas miles from where we actually are

Well as a masseusse I will certainly not be joining the site as it clearly has nothing to do with massage. It's all escorts. It is totally misleading using that name.

An update on what we did in May:

What we did in May
First, thanks to all of you who have got in touch to send comments and positive feedback. Equal thanks go to those who complained something didn't work as expected - we love to hear about any problems as this helps us get better for everyone.

For everyone

We have added in questions and improved reviews. Questions mean users can get in touch to ask individual questions about the services advertisers provide and everyone can see the answers (if they are useful) or they can be answered privately.

For users

You now get a page where you can see all of your reviews, questions and favourites on a single page. When you make a review or question, it is now linked to your page so others can see this info. This is the first step we are making to creating a space you can share with others on the site.

For advertisers

We just launched a new individual listing view. This layout gives us more space to present listings better and we hope you like it.
At the beginning of June you will also receive your first performance report.
This will tell you about the activity on your listing in terms of views, messages and other contact actions
