South London Sex Worker Support Service
« on: 17 February 2016, 03:39:37 pm »
Hello, my name is Katie and I?m an Outreach Worker for RASASC http://www.uknswp.org/projects/rasasc-specialist-sexual-violence-outreach-service/. We offer specialist support to women who are or have been involved in the sex industry in any way, including street based and indoor sex workers and independent escorts, in South London.

We know that selling sex does not mean that you have experienced sexual violence, but this message is just to let you know that if you you do ever want any support or information about any form of sexual violence, including assault, harassment or threats, you can call me on 020 8683 3311, or call/text/Whatsapp me 07437 330 784, and we can talk on the phone or arrange to meet in person.

We are a completely independent and confidential service, which means we never share information with other organisations. If you have experienced sexual violence then you did not deserve it, you do however deserve the very best possible support that doesn?t judge you or make you feel uncomfortable.  We and our organisation are here for you if or when you would like to talk.

Warm wishes,

Katie

Hello! My name is Katie and I?m an Outreach Worker for RASASC http://www.uknswp.org/projects/rasasc-specialist-sexual-violence-outreach-service/. We offer specialist support and information to women who are or have been involved in the sex industry in any way, including street based and indoor sex workers and independent escorts, in South London.

We know that just because you are or have been involved in the sex industry, this does not mean that you have experienced any sexual violence. This message is just to let you know that if you do ever want any confidential and non-judgmental support for any kind of sexual violence, including assault, harassment or threats, then we are here.

We understand that you may fear that organisations and workers will judge, disbelieve, or blame you, and that you may even have contacted an organisation in the past and had one or many of these bad experiences. You deserve support which recognises that people have many different experiences of the sex industry, and that you and your experiences are unique. You deserve support which recognises that any violence (including the threat of violence) committed against people in the sex industry is a crime, not an ?occupational hazard?.

What we can offer:
Highly qualified, non-judgmental, empathic support...
...Either over the phone, or face-to-face in a place which is safe and near to you
Links into our face-to-face therapy service, that lasts up to a year provided by fully qualified female professional counsellors
Links into our advocacy or ISVA service, that supports survivors before and throughout the criminal justice process
Information on issues related to sexual violence and its impacts
Information on other relevant support services in your area
Information on issues related to sexual violence and its impacts
Information on other relevant support services in your area, such as health care, Independent Sexual Violence Advisors, therapists and Sexual Assault Referral Centres

We will always:
Provide a professional, accountable and confidential service
Listen to you with sincerity and non-judgmental acceptance
Believe you

We will never:
Tell you what to do
Make assumptions about your life or your feelings
Pressure you to make decisions or take further action
Pressure you to change your behaviour or the way you live
Share any information about you with any other people, organisations or services
Judge, blame, or lie to you

If you have survived sexual violence then you did not deserve it. It was not your fault. You do deserve the very best possible support.

If you have any questions or would like to meet or speak, you can call 0208 683 3311 and ask for Katie, call/text/whatsapp me on 07437 330 784, or email me at outreach@rasasc.org.uk.

Warm wishes,

Katie

Hey everyone,

We are offering another free & confidential specially designed self-defence session for self-defining women who work in the sex industry.

The training acknowledges that it is never our responsibility to prevent an attack or assault, whilst aiming to leave you feeling more empowered in your ability to use your body, and small techniques to defend yourself if you had to - and crucially, if you felt able to - in that specific situation.

Venue: Hammersmith - we will give you the address when you book.
Date: Tuesday 6th June 2017
Time: 3pm-6pm

As with all of our services, your identity and the fact that you came to the session will be kept completely confidential. We are also not publicising the address.

If you would like to book a place, or if you have any questions or fears about our organisation or the session itself, please feel welcome to get in touch either on this forum or on the number/email below.

Hope to see some of you there :)

Warm wishes,

Katie

Hello! My name is Steph and I'm a new Outreach Worker for RASASC http://www.uknswp.org/projects/rasasc-specialist-sexual-violence-outreach-service/. I have taken over from Katie, who has posted in this thread before, so I wanted to let you know about the change. We still offer the same support and work in exactly the same way as before. We're also looking to organise more self-defence sessions so I will update this thread later in the year when I have more details!

As a reminder, we offer specialist support and information to women who are or have been involved in the sex industry in any way, including street based and indoor sex workers and independent escorts, in South London.

We know that just because you are or have been involved in the sex industry, this does not mean that you have experienced any sexual violence. This message is just to let you know that if you do ever want any confidential and non-judgemental support for any kind of sexual violence, including assault, harassment or threats, then we are here.

You deserve support which recognises that people have many different experiences of the sex industry, and that you and your experiences are unique. You deserve support which recognises that any violence (including the threat of violence) committed against people in the sex industry is a crime, not an "occupational hazard".
