Sex Worker Support - York and surrounding areas
« on: 14 June 2021, 09:31:25 pm »
Hello  :)

This is my first post so apologies if I do something wrong...

I am part of a small team of women based in central York offering holistic support to any self identifying female. We can help with benefits, housing, food bank... you name it! Our support is completely tailored to you and your needs.

Our new pilot is focused on helping sex workers in York as currently what's on offer is really limited.

I started sex work at 17 so "I get it". You won't be speaking to a sterile clinician.

We are here to help and never encourage women to exit sex work like some other organisations locally.  :FF

Anyway, if anyone is interested in more information please drop me a message.

Thanks  :)

Can you post some more information please - who you are/the name of your organisation and a website URL if you have one?

We appreciate you mean well, but there are vulnerable people here and as I'm sure you realise, anybody can pop up claiming to be anything on the internet and we need some credentials before you get to use the PM system and so on :).

Thank you!

Unfortunately something had a hissy fit when I went to approve your post, and it disappeared so I'll repost it here :)

Of course, sorry!

Here's our website - https://www.changing-lives.org.uk/

Our centre is called the Women's Wellness Centre, we don't post the address online because it is a secure centre for women only but this can be obviously given out if anyone would like to attend.

We run drop in every Wednesday 10AM-11AM. It is really informal and just a space for a cuppa and catch up :)

This link is a bit out of date but it shows you inside the building https://www.facebook.com/ChangingLivesCharity/posts/were-offering-free-drop-in-sessions-at-the-newly-refurbished-womens-wellness-cen/2448832775192911/

I am an outreach worker for Changing Lives but obviously also have my own lived experience :)

Thanks hope that's made sense

Thank you!

Is there anything I need to do to get my account upgraded from restricted?

I can't seem to find anything about it on SAAFE. I am happy to provide more details about my identity.

Thanks :)

Yes, it's just because you haven't made many posts. I've overridden it now, although the only difference it makes is that you can now use the PM system :)
