Post by: umbrellalane on 26 April 2017, 10:44:45 pm
Sexual health clinic tomorrow (27 April- Thursday) 4-8pm at Terrence Higgins Trust Scotland, Glasgow. Hope to see as great a turn out as last month ☂️ Umbrella Lane volunteers will be there as usual if you fancy a chat about anything work related or just to hear more about the project. Also plenty of safe sex supplies available to take away.

Read more about Umbrella Lane, Glasgow's first service and project led by sex workers themselves : http://www.umbrellalane.co.uk

About the drop-in:
Sexual Health Testing Clinic
Umbrella Lane works in partnership with Terrence Higgins Trust Scotland (THT), to provide a specialist sexual health testing service for people in the sex industry of all genders. The clinic runs every last Thursday of the month (4-8pm) at the THT Offices on Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow. Sex workers can drop in to get tested by THT volunteers, who have undergone training with Umbrella Lane on how to provide a non-stigmatising, non-judgemental testing service to sex workers. The clinic runs alongside a welfare rights clinic (which you can also access) on the same night, and some other activities going on in the THT centre. This means that sex workers do not need to disclose their involvement in sex work if you do not wish and it wouldn't be assumed that was the clinic you are there to attend. Testing at the clinic is free and confidential, and you do not need to give your real name.

One or two Umbrella Lane volunteers will also be around at THT on these nights in case you would like to speak with a peer, or hear more about the services and community we offer.

Title: Umbrella Lane Update
Post by: umbrellalane on 08 April 2020, 01:44:43 pm
Hi all!

It's been a while since our last post, and many things have changed for us since 2016! Some of you may know who we are already, some of you may not.

For those who don't know, Umbrella Lane is a Glasgow-based lived-experience led charity who aims to provide a safe space for sex workers to come together as a community and be connected. All of our volunteers are current or former sex workers, and we are in no way associated with any government organisations.

We currently offer a number of services such as workshops and classes, drop-in services, safer sex supplies, and since the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have started a hardship fund for sex workers who are struggling financially (please see our website for details on how to apply www.umbrellalane.org) .

We are posting today as we are launching a community-wide needs assessment. With this needs assessment, we are reaching out to sex workers to find out about their needs and priorities, and using this information to inform our service offerings.
We will also be using these responses to build a training package for other services such as healthcare services, services for drug users, or services related to mental health support to name a few. We will work with these services to develop the language they use and the policies they have in place regarding interactions with people who do sex work, ensuring all services, both ours and others, are accessible and acceptable to our community.

The survey is linked here, and we would greatly appreciate your input. If you would like to know more about us, our social media is linked below as well. Any questions, comments or concerns may be sent to hello@umbrellalane.org or you can DM us on this site.

Thank you for your time!
