National Ugly Mugs (NUM)
Any sex worker can sign up to NUM for free to report any incidents and receive warnings about dangerous individuals and to gain access to the NUM number checker and email checker tools to screen clients.
What NUM does
?   NUM takes reports of incidents from sex workers and produces anonymised warnings which are then sent directly to sex workers and front-line support projects throughout the UK.
?   With consent, we share anonymous intelligence with police.
?   Our case workers, Jacqui (London ? working days Tues/Wed/Fri) and Shona (rest of UK ? working days Mon to Fri) can offer you support and can link you with police to make a full report if that is what you want to do. They will also ensure you have access to professional services if you have been a victim of crime.

To become a member and receive alerts:
Go to www.uglymugs.org , on the home page, click Join today which will take you to the registration form.
?   Fill in the form and select which type of membership you require.
?   To receive alerts by SMS or e-mail please indicate this by providing your number/email address in the appropriate field.
?   Once you have submitted your registration you will be sent a password.
?   Your membership will be processed manually and we will inform you when we have processed your application and you can then log in using your username and the password that was sent to you. Usernames and passwords are case sensitive.

Please do not hesitate to contact NUM if you have any queries on admin@uglymugs.org or call 0161 629 9861. Our office hours are Mon-Fri 9-5:00. It is great to speak to our members and we are always happy to help where we can!

Great to see NUM on here with a refreshed thread. We at Basis are a project member of NUM reporting and alert scheme and we promote the scheme to sex workers in Leeds. We have many escorts working and travelling to Leeds who use the scheme and let others in the industry know about it.

The last 3 digits are starred out. Do escorts put it in their phones like that? There's a number checker too I noticed recently.

The number checker has been there right from the start, more recently an email check was added.

I will search numbers for definite bookings, also anyone who sounds a bit suspicious or is starting to behave like a bit of a twit. I do the same with the search facility here, and on a few other sites with warning sections.

Probably really silly of me. But I’m having trouble with num, I’ve been checking numbers and emails for the last few months, but just realised that they put *** within numbers and emails usually so I suddenly thought maybe I need to put them at the end of the numbers when I search them.

HOWEVER when I searched a number that already has an alert on the site, to check that it worked with the *** at the end. Nothing came up. It said the usual ‘did not find a match’.
Bit worrying. I’m probably searching wrong ??
Someone help! I’d thought Id just never had contact from a dodgy number or email, but now I’m not sure ?  :'(

The search is for the whole number, that's how I use it. Also there's a phone number and email address you can use to contact NUM. They have always been very helpful and approachable whenever I've done so.

NUM have launched a take down service for online content, they can remove stolen content from MindGeek websites which includes Porn Hub.  The tool is found on the NUM website.
