Hello from Basis Yorkshire!

We wanted to give you all an update on how Basis Yorkshire is running so that you know we are still here for you in these uncertain times – even though lockdown is easing, we know things are still difficult.

Although we are still not available for drop in at the office or our usual outreach, we are still here to support you in any way we can, in the safest way possible. All of our staff have been COVID-19 briefed in order to make sure that we are continuing to work in the safest way possible. If you would like to find out more about what support we can offer in your particular circumstance or would like to sign up to our monthly newsletter, please email: info-basis@basisyorkshire.org.uk or text 07710 304 306

We can STILL:
•   Offer phone call support by calling the office on: 0113 243 0036 or the sexual health phone on: 07710 304 306; ranging from queries re accessing health or housing support, food parcels, benefits etc
•   Support you with reporting a crime to Ugly Mugs and/or the police.
•   Do contactless drop offs of essentials such as clothes etc.
•   Support you via live chat, on our website or by texting: 07862 137328
•   We will update you all when outreach and drop-in become possible.

Covid-19:
•   If you have not yet been able to access the vaccine and live or work in Leeds, or would like to know more please get in touch and we can support with this.
•   If you have COVID symptoms, we can help you access a PCR test through Basis if you prefer this – these are the most accurate tests currently available and recommended for anyone with symptoms
•   You can now order lateral flow COVID tests to take regularly at home. This is a great way to keep checking that you do not have the virus. They are FREE and you can order them from here:https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests. They need to be taken twice a week on the same two days to be effective
•   You can also collect them from hubs across Leeds, a list can be found here: https://www.leedsccg.nhs.uk/health/coronavirus/coronavirus-where-to-go-for-testing/#asymptomatic-testing

Sexual Health:
•   Basis are offering sexual health clinics on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Appointments must be pre-booked by calling the office on: 0113 243 0036 or the sexual health phone on: 07710 304 306.
•   We are also offering free condoms to collect from the Basis office. The office is be open from 12-3pm every day offering standard packs of 60 extra safe, naturelle, flavoured, trim and large condoms with a tube of lube and some sponges. You do not need an appointment to collect them, as long as you come between 12-3pm.

Please get in touch via phone or social media if you would like support with any of the above from Basis. Thank you!
