Hi everyone,

I am currently involved in the Student Sex Work Project - www.thestudentsexworkproject.co.uk

This post is just to let you all know about the site. We are hoping to do two things - firstly, there's a survey for student sex workers - although students who aren't working can also take part. The reason for the survey is to find out about issues which affect student sex workers, and also to find out people's general attitudes to sex work.

Secondly, the site aims to provide support and assistance to workers if required. We've got a blog section for workers to vent and talk about any issues. We also run a netreach service where people can talk in real time with a support worker. We are partnered with a few organisations such as Terrence Higgins, and you can find out more about what we do on the site.

We are also producing a social drama later this year and will be looking for people to help out with that too. There's no pressure to get involved with this though. We're doing the drama to get the word out about the issues that do exist and give people the opportunity to consider what we do as a form of work.

I myself am a former industry worker and have blogged on the site. If you choose to register for the blog, use the net reach service or even just help us out with the survey, you can be sure you will be working with non judgemental people. I've worked in a few different parts of the industry myself and am personally aware of issues which affect workers as well as how difficult it can be to juggle this stuff with studying.

Anyway, if you fancy checking us out please visit the visit the site. You can also check us out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/TheStudentSexWorkProject and on Twitter @TSSWP

I hope you guys get involved. Although the project is based in Wales, and the survey is principally for people in Wales, our netreach and blog stuff can be used by anyone.

Thanks so much!

Heyyy  :D

I just thought i'd drop a quick note on this forum about a project I?m involved with. Its for anyone who is or has been a student and has been involved with some kind of sex work. Might be webcam or escorting or anything  :).  Anyway i thought i'd post because i found the links for SAAFE through that forum and i like this site a lot so maybe you'll like the student sex work project website too :) This isn't a post to replace SAAFE or anything. Just another site.  :)
Anyway i thought i'd just tell you what the site is about

Basically it?s called The Student Sex Work Project www.thestudentsexworkproject.co.uk . It's run from Swansea University and is a research study but it offers services as well.  One you have signed up as a member there are a few things you can access through the members page.

You can post messages, questions and communicate with other members about your ideas and experiences, as well as any issues that might arise from your work in adult entertainment/sex work.

You can also make use of the Forum's one-2-one support service and talk over any issues/problems/concerns or just pop in for a chat with the Student Sex Work Project staff and volunteers (open two days a week).

Once a fortnight they have Loz Galatowicz from the UK Network of Sex Work Projects who can talk through any matters around sex work, the law, safety or general information on sex work. She comes onto the online chat and you can talk to her privately :)

You can also access a free and confidential service with their resident sexologist Sam Geuens. (You might have to google sexologist.I had too but actually i really like talking to him. He's such a help  :) haha

And if you live or study in Wales you can access a sexual health service in Cardiff specifically for students who work in sex work or adult entertainment.

To join you have to confirm that you're are a student by providing a working university email address or some other proof. It's not to figure you out and in a sense it really is a private forum then as no one can just stumble upon the forum. Keeps nosey clients away hehe. I sent my uni e-mail but they contact me through a different e-mail :)

I joined the project as a member last year and now I work with Debbie, Jacky and Gemma, the people at the project as a paid researcher but i'm certainly not a spy or anything. haha. I escort and webcam too :).  I have Blogged and help them think about questions to ask other sex workers. Mainly, i do it because it'd be nice to see all sex workers treated with a little more respect instead of being subject to bad jokes and a lot of stigma.

You can also fill in their survey if you're bored. It might help in the future and helps understanding  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/student_sex_survey

If you want to know more about the project you could just reply here or email the project ccjc-sswp@swansea.ac.uk    :)

Personally, i have used the net reach chat alot because it helps when you want instant replies 1-1 and sometimes work is just a little lonely?

Anyway i hope it might be of interest to some of you

Holly :D xxxx

Seemed reasonable until you wanted proof of student identity. I'm out.

Yeah it put me off for a while too. I think  it's so only students join as media people are super iinterested in student sex workers but no pressure to join. Just so you know it's there if you ever wanted too  :) xxx

Firstly we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has read our previous posts and to 'hollytree' and 'casey_kisses' for your comments!

We would like to let you all know that our project is still ongoing and we would love for you to get in touch and share your experiences with us.

Becoming a member on the project is a great opportunity to get your voice heard in a confidential, safe and non-judgemental environment. Visit our website using the link below to join us on the project and make use of the services we can offer you free of charge.

www.thestudentsexworkproject.co.uk

New members are usually required to provide us with a university email address and some extra information about your area of work. This is to confirm student identity and most importantly to protect all our project members from malicious intent and from the media accessing our online service.
We ensure to make our project the safest and securest place possible.

However, we would like to stress that if you join our project through SAAFE we are happy to accept you as a member without an email address!

If you do not wish to join as a member but are happy to share some of your experiences involved in the diverse sex work industry with us, we would love to arrange an interview with you, this can be done over the phone, face to face or through a web based interview via skype.

We can?t wait to get you involved with the project!

If you have any questions please drop us an email at ccjc-sswp@swansea.ac.uk

Hi casey_kisses,

We would just like to let you know that if you join our project through SAAFE we are happy to accept you as a member without proof of student identity. We do usually require this information, purely to protect our project members from malicious intent and from the media accessing our online service as Holly explained :)

We hope that you are still interested to join us on the project!

You can read more in our new post published today :)

In principle this project is a wonderful idea.

However, as a  mature part-time student who does not live in Wales I was very dissapointed when visiting your website. It is a real shame that you service is so exclusive rather than inclusive. People that dont fit your criteria would still greatly benefit and have great contributions to make to your project.

In fact you would probably find this service more relevant in England as we have to pay for our education here and are therefore more likely to turn to sex work to fund it. In fact I would bet my bottom dollar you have a greater student sex worker demographic in England than in Wales, especially with there being more universities.

Many students these days are over 25 and are also part time students for financial reasons. It is a shame you are excluding them all, as well every other student sex worker in Britain. We are all part of the the same nation and industry after all.

Hi sarahbelle,

We are very pleased you like the idea of our project and thank you very much for your feedback. We do actually agree with you and we know it may seem like a limited project, but this is due to the funding process, we are a welsh-based funded project, therefore this does not allow us to expand our project to England.

However, we can still expand on our knowledge and research and we do talk to students involved in sex work all over the world. Your geographical location does not affect you talking to us and making use our services. We would love to talk to you and hear about your experiences. Also the fact that you are a mature student does not matter!

If you would like to talk with us and share your experiences you can email us at ccjc-sswp@swansea.ac.uk and we can arrange to talk to you over the phone or through our online netreach service. We can then hopefully provide you with further information.

Hope this helps,
We look forward to hearing from you.
