Arch North East Sexual Violence Support for the sex industry
« on: 11 November 2016, 11:00:46 am »
Hi all!
My role is to support anyone who is involved in the sex industry and unfortunately has experienced rape or sexual assault. I am based within Arch North East, a sexual violence support service in Middlesbrough, but I cover the whole of Teesside. Whether this is your full time occupation, part-time alongside another job or studying, or whether you work independently or through an agency I am here to help.

I can support you whether the assault was recent or historical and no matter who the perpetrator was (client or boyfriend etc.). You can either contact me by telephone or email for a discreet chat about your options or we can meet for a coffee. This doesn?t mean you have to report to the police and no information will be given to them without your consent. You have options that don?t involve the police such as support with sexual health checks, counselling etc.

I can also chat (email, text or in person) about working safe or any concerns you have about what is going on in this area. I work alongside National Ugly Mugs and help you join you up or put on a report for you if that helps.

If you do decide to report to the police I can help you in every stage of the legal process. Although I work independently from the police they have reassured me that they are committed to your safety and access to justice not what you were doing at the time of the attack. We also have a Designated Liaison Officer for people involved in sex work who is also happy to offer any advice if needed.

Your confidentiality, safety and right to justice are my priorities.

You can contact me by email: g.trueman@archnortheast.org
or phone: 07400165812/01642 822335
or check me out on our website http://www.archnortheast.org/services/specialist-independent-sexual-violence-advisor/

I will also be sending out surveys from time to time asking for your opinion regarding how we can make services work better for you, please take part if you can, we need your voices to be heard.

Keep safe,

Gaynor x
