I had a studio shoot with Ruan Van der Sande last week and the pics are amazing. He has been photographing SW's for many years so is non judgemental and I went alone but felt completely safe and relaxed. Would highly recommend!

Want to mention a photographer to avoid on here if possible.

Can I just post on this thread?

Go ahead! But if it's a London one, it's probably better here.

It depends what you want to spend.

You can get lots of free images if you look for "time for prints" as explained on another thread here.

It's also a good call to avoid the "wedding and portrait" photographers, they won't have the same skill set.

The last thing that you want is all of those generic pics in the same old poses, usually dimly lit, lying down and rubbish.

If it is a choice between that and a proper professional shoot, I would get a selfie stick a bottle of wine and get creative!!

I'm not sure what your area is but I have used many over the past 15 years. Please feel free to pm me and I will be happy to point you in the right direction

P.S. the women I use, from two separate studios make me feel safe. They know what the pics are for, don't rip me off in price...... and let's be honest, It's much nicer to work with women for this!

Having worked as an amateur model in my 20's (a long time ago).. I have met every creep in the business!!

A regular who was a building photographer persuaded me to let him take photos of me, he took up several hours of my time and may or may not have gotten a free booking (I think it was just a long, big booking for his usual hour fee). Left me with huge raw files from his camera, at the time I didn't have the skill set to resize not to mention skills to iron out all the background issues he'd managed to not even think about the background, just caught everything in it. Seemed as if he'd focused on the background rather than me, I happened to be a person somewhere in the room. Total waste of time and very disappointing.

That sounds really shitty but can you get someone off one of the modelling sites to edit them for free?

I bet there are a few useable ones. x
