« on: 28 March 2010, 04:52:44 am »
Hi Guys xx

I'm looking for a Photographer that Isn't going to charge me the earth!!(as I'm still starting out so money is really tight) preferably in the warwickshire/midlands Area. As I have only been advertising on AW since the 25Th and have had several enquiries but they have all asked for pics and when I haven't been able to provide them they haven't booked :-( xx

Can anyone help me or recommend a reasonable photographer who is available soon ?? I'm desperate to start working lol I can't wait xx

I

Kat,
Register on purestorm.com and set up a casting call offering a shoot on a TFCD basis (time for pictures)

That's not necessarily a good idea if you're concerned about privacy. I don't have time to go into it now, though.

Kat,
With complete respect to Soph I agree that it might not be a good idea....

I needed a photographer quickly and cheaply and got in touch with a guy in my area who I found on Model Mayhem.  I emailed him saying I was after some 'glamour' shots.  I then went to meet him quickly before deciding whether to book him.  He was really nice and he may have done a great job but he obviously wanted to know what the pics were for.  He kept asking (probably because I was being particularly vague) what the pics would be used for and even though I probably wasn't under any obligation to tell him I decided not to go ahead because  a) I felt that by him not knowing what the pics were for that I wouldn't get the best from the shoot and b) I didn't know him from adam therefore he wasn't recommended by anyone so I didn't know how discrete he would be if he did find out or guess what the pics were for.  Those pics are on the photographer's hard drive long after you've gone.

He might have been really cool with it and completely trustworthy but I wasn't willing to take the chance so I ended up getting pics (yesterday!) by someone who encourages and has worked with adult industry workers and knew exactly what I was after.

Sorry I haven't really answered your question but might give you some food for thought.  xxx

Oh, I wasn't even thinking about the photographer knowing. I've always told them as soon as we've made contact (before arranging to meet) that I'll be using the photos to advertise escort services and that I'll give whatever credit they want or leave their name off completely if they prefer. Not telling them just doesn't seem right in a TFP situation.

For those that are unfamiliar, TFP stands for Time For Prints (although these days you usually just get a CD of photos rather than prints), and it's a way that models and photographers can expand their portfolios without spending much money. You both offer your time and you both get pictures out of it which you can use to promote yourself. The important point here is that the photographer will expect to use some of the images with the same freedom as you have and he's probably going to have some pictures that are identifying. You can negotiate so that only headless pictures are allowed or something, but if you're trying to protect your identity I think it's just quite risky.

My sentiments exactly if you want to protect your identity.  As I said above:  "...the pics are on his hard drive long after you've gone".
