Time waster in Ealing. I ended up just going home!
« on: 19 March 2013, 07:45:49 pm »
Was due to work in Ealing today. As I set off to go there I was thinking the phone very quiet.

The only reason I didn't cancel was because I had one confirmed booking for 2pm and I guessed it may pick up afterwards. Also he had told me he was disabled with crutches. He seemed so nice and we had spoken a few times.

I explained to the guy I couldn't check in till 2 and he was fine with that. I got to the hotel at 130. Room wasn't ready. He texted to say he had arrived early. I texted to say room not ready. He texted ok.

At 2pm the room was ready. I handed over the cash. This wasn't a cheap room. Then he texted to say he was going home as it was too cold. WTF!

I let this get to me more than normal an said to hotel a problem had occurred and could I please cancel the room. They gave me my money back.

As they did that he texted me and said he was only joking.

Sure enough he was outside. I told him that due to his text I had cancelled the hotel.

I said I could not go back in now as I had to plead for the refund. It was past cancellation time. I told him there was another hotel opposite. We could go and try that one.

In the meantime my friend was sat in car taking my calls for me. I had to ring her to explain what had happened.

The guy said he was not going to hang around listening to me talk about him and he walked off saying he was going home.

Boy did I give him what for!!!

Then would you believe my phone started to ring like mad including some regulars. I then found the other hotel was full booked. I could have cried.

Think this job may be getting to me the way I hastily cancelled the hotel. :-(

He called himself Barry. Skinny white guy on crutches. 079685649**

I never met him. He was a constant texter and always asking me for photo's which he never got and he soon lost interest when I didn't want to play his games! I've found every disabled man who's contacted me to be a TW :-(

This particular one has affected me. I was 100% convinced this was a genuine guy.

The week leading up to that day had been particularly bad with time wasters like never before in all the years I have done this.

I am already on edge when checking in to a hotel. I told him from the days before I couldn't get in the room till 2. I often turn up early on the off chance which sometimes pays off but that day there was no need because I still had my other hotel in different area from night before.

I could have got a 2pm checkout at previous hotel but I made a point of getting there at 2 for him.

He put me in edge from the beginning by turning up early. I told him I would text him when I was in room. He's ringing me at 155 while I'm stood at reception asking if he could come up.

I told him I would text him when ready. Check in time is so stressful for me as it is, especially as its not one of the best hotels for working in. It's key carded but entry door to lift round corner from reception. However, last time i used it reception was always mobbed. Not that day.

Then to get the text dead on 2 saying he was cold and going home just made me throw my dolly out the pram. Made excuse to reception an got money back then the text comes through that he's joking.

When I saw him outside I really wanted to give him a slap.

I am concerned that I let that one idiot get to me that day. Am wondering if it's getting to the stage that the job is getting to me.

Lottie, can you make your mind up which it is? The bloke may be a pain in the arse, but he doesn't deserve being included here if that's all it is and I'll remove the thread.
